Meghan Markle dons Israeli designer’s creation

Her every move and every outfit are being scrutinized around the globe. So when princess-in-waiting Meghan Markle donned a bodysuit by an Israeli designer based in Philadelphia, it began flying off the shelves.

Last week, Markle – who is engaged to Britain’s Prince Harry – attended the blacktie Endeavor Fund Awards ceremony in London. The former actress opted to wear a black pantsuit by Alexander McQueen over a “Boss” white bodysuit/blouse in ivory from the Philadelphia-based Tuxe Bodywear.

“We’ve been royally approved!” the brand posted on Instagram after Markle was spotted in its item. “We absolutely love Meghan for all she has done for women’s rights and are honored to be worn by someone who encapsulates what we stand for as a brand. She uses her spotlight to be an inspiration and she definitely is to us!”

Tuxe was founded in 2015 by Tamar Daniel, who was born in Jerusalem, raised in London and is a graduate of Ramat Gan’s Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. The company sells a range of bodysuits of all types and styles, aimed at providing a “sleek, professional, slimming” look.

In a Vogue interview in June, Daniel told the magazine that her line is very popular among Orthodox Jews who use the pieces for layering.

“They say, ‘I want to wear the slip dress that everyone is wearing but we don’t show that much skin. Can you suggest a piece that will disappear under the dress, to supplement a trend and make it accessible for me?’” Daniel said then.

The designer also spoke to Ynet earlier this week, after Markle was seen in the bodysuit in London, and discussed her religious background.

“I’m a religious woman, and I understand the constraints of the modern wardrobe,” the mother of four told Ynet. “I’m happy that our products enrich options for women, though they weren’t influenced by my religious education.”

After Markle was spotted in the “Boss,” the $280 bodysuit is of course completely sold out. But don’t fear, it’s available for preorder for royal fans and will start shipping in April. And don’t worry – the company ships to Israel.
