WHAT TO BE PROUD OF

- (Ariel Van Straten)

Galilee Medical Center director Dr. Masad Barhoum, who was the first non-Jewish director of a government hospital in Israel, has been chosen by the Culture and Sport Ministry to participate in a nationwide campaign to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel under the title ‘After 70 years, there’s what to be proud of.’ The national campaign includes 12 people selected by the organizers of this year’s anniversary celebrations. Barhoum was chosen in light of the emphasis he places on the value of giving and the humanity that has been reflected in the treatment by the entire staff of the medical center of the 600,000 residents of the region and, over the past five years, the more than 2,400 wounded people from Syria’s civil war who have been treated in the hospital.
