Uni-partisan support?

-

Regarding “Record number of Jewish voters will reject Trump in November” (August 19), it is sad to say that the new face of the Democratic Party consists of Maxine Waters, Kirsten Gillibrand, Nancy Pelosi, Keith Ellison and too many more of their ilk to mention. A Pew survey shows support of Israel is increasingly partisan, with the GOP party backing the Jewish State 79% of the time, far outstripping 27% of Democrat support. Support for Israel is dramatically declining among Democrats, contrary to what this article is asserting.

As a part-time New Yorker, I am disappointed in our two Democratic Senators. Kirsten Gillibrand withdrew her support for an anti-BDS bill and penned in Time Magazine an article praising Linda Sarsour, a virulent antisemite and Sharia law activist. Chuck Schumer supported the DNC nomination of Keith Ellison, a vicious anti-Israel Muslim. And don’t get me started on our previous Democratic president. Barack Obama’s biased and disastrous policies against Israel, including UN Resolution 2334 and the Iran Nuclear Deal with $150 billion bonus to pump up Iran’s economy and finance regional terrorism and aggression showed us the true colors of the Democratic Party and it is not pretty.

President Donald Trump came to Israel early in his term to show support, constantly defends Israel in the Jew-bashing UN and had the courage to finally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital.

It is time we see the seismic, radicalized change in the Democratic Party and reject their anti-Israel narrative and tarnished, shameful domestic and foreign policies. LISA HERSHKOVITZ Jerusalem/New York
