How did celebrities celebrate Rosh Hashanah?
Just like millions of Jews around the world, many celebrities spent time this week celebrating Rosh Hashanah with their families and friends.
Israeli actress Gal Gadot posted a special message on Instagram on Sunday with her wishes for the New Year.
“Happy Rosh Hashanah!” she wrote. “May we always enjoy the simple things in life, be happy with what we have and respectful to each other. May we accept and appreciate those who are different and see the beauty in that.. May we LOVE, LAUGH AND see the world through kids eyes.. I wish you all a great happy and healthy new year!!”
Earlier this year, Gadot spent Passover in Israel with her family. And last year she also came home to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with her local friends. But this year, amid her busy work schedule and filming for the Wonder Woman sequel, Gadot doesn’t seem to have found time for a visit.
Bar Refaeli was definitely in Israel for Rosh Hashanah this year. The supermodel even took part in an event on Sunday afternoon for Holocaust survivors from around the country. Refaeli hosted the event held in Tel Aviv by the Association for the Immediate Help of Holocaust Survivors.
“May this year allow us to give more, to appreciate what we have and to be satisfied,” Refaeli wrote on Instagram alongside a photo from the event. “Begin this year with giving, and I promise you that it’s the most worthwhile thing there is.”
The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik let her Facebook fans know that she’d be offline as she celebrates the holiday.
“Hey friends! I’ll be spending the start of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) off the grid until Tuesday night!” she wrote on Facebook on Sunday. “I’ll mostly be in synagogue and eating sweet foods.”
Actress Isla Fisher, who converted to Judaism to marry comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, posted a photo online of a set holiday table surrounded by people on Monday.
“Shana Tova,” she wrote. “Happy New Year. Wishing you all a happy and sweet New Year. Peace, joy and happiness to everybody.”
Actress Debra Messing wished a “Happy New Year to all who celebrate. May this one be marked by peace, sanity, justice, community, and of course, laughter.”
Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal posted a photo of challah, apples and honey on Instagram on Tuesday with the caption: “Holla #ShanaTova.”
Actor Joshua Malina posted an image of him blowing the shofar with the caption “shana tova” written in Hebrew.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg blew the shofar in a video he posted on Facebook – with a crying baby in the background.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Yom Kippur.
