1. HOT Queens
Last Wednesday at the Smolarz Auditorium of Tel Aviv University, HOT introduced its new drama series,
Queens. Attending were HOT CEO Tal Granot-Goldstein; director-general of the Ministry of Communications Nati Cohen; founder and head of International Content at the ADD Agency Hadas Mozes-Lichtenstein; and the star of the series.
2. Tel Aviv U.
The Association of Friends of Tel Aviv University, headed by President Amnon Dick and the incoming director general Adi Olmert, celebrated another year of the Association’s activity at an event held last Friday at the Smolarz Auditorium. The highlight of the evening was a discussion led by retired Supreme Court justice Prof. Yoram Danziger, who is now a full professor at Tel Aviv University, and Adenko Sabhat-Haimovich, a Magistrate Court judge, which focused on the question of reasonable doubt in criminal law. Danziger, who wrote the minority opinion in the case of the late Tair Rada, and who called for the acquittal of Roman Zadorov based on this issue, stated that he believes they will lead to a retrial. The guests, who enjoyed a performance by Danny Sanderson, included: president of Tel Aviv University Joseph Klafter; Dafna Meitar-Nehmad; Yitzhak and Adia Suari; and Yigal and Tzipi Landau.
3. INSS
The Israeli Board of Trustees of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) met last week at the home of Board chairman Pini Cohen. Special invited guests were Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva, head of the IDF Operations Directorate. At the event, INSS Director, retired Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, presented the “INSS Plan: A Strategic Framework for the Israeli-Palestinian Arena.” INSS has worked on this plan over the past two years, and it is now being presented to government figures in Israel, senior figures in the US administration, and the Israeli public.
Among those attending the event: Yehudit and Yehuda Bronitzky, founders of Ormat Technologies; Yona Fogel, CEO of Paz; Rony Hizkiyahu, Finance Ministry accountant general; Dana Azrieli, chair of the Azrieli Group; Boaz and Varda Dotan, among the founders of Amdocs; Gilad Altshuler, of the owners of Altshuler Shaham Investment House; Yodfat and Pini Buchris; Gabi and Ronit Ashkenazi and more.
4. Israel-Italy
The Israel-Italy Chamber of Commerce hosted a business delegation to promote Israeli tourism to the province of Taranto. The delegation met with representatives of Israeli tourist agencies, enjoyed cocktail hour at the Salon restaurant, and tasted delicacies prepared by Italian chef Michele Bozzetto. Celebrating together were: Israel-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Ronni Benatoff; director-general of the Israel-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry Clelia Di Consilio; Israir CEO Uri Sirkis; and Sun-Dor CEO Yair Barbi.
5. WeizmannVibe
On Thursday evening, the Weizmann Institute of Science’s WeizmannVibe held an event at the Glilot Cinema City, with more than 200 young managers. The participants heard a lecture by Dr. Meital Oren-Suissa, of the department of Neurobiology, on the brain differences between the sexes. The guests also watched a screening of Avi Nesher’s new film The Other Story. Attending were: Prof. Israel Bar-Joseph, vice president of the Weizmann Institute of Science; director of the Friends Association, Yael Wegman-Goren; Amir Shaltiel, chairman of WeitzmannVibe; and Prof. Amnon Shashua and his wife Anat.
