Chabad reps honored by new London shul
The new Beis Gavriel–Hendon Synagogue was recently inaugurated in London in memory of Rivka and Gavriel Holtzberg, Chabad emissaries who were murdered in the terrorist attack on the Chabad House in Mumbai, India.
The synagogue was founded at the initiative of Rabbi Menachem Junik.
The Lavi Furniture factory – the largest factory in the world for the design and manufacture of synagogues – created the holy ark, which is spread out on a wide wall that is integrated with hidden libraries and stained glass windows, as well as a partition for the women’s section that ascends and descends according to the circumstances (during the sermon the curtain drops; during the prayer the partition rises). This is a unique patent developed by Lavi furniture, along with memorial tablets, cantorial lectern, a reading table and more.
The dominant color chosen for the synagogue’s furniture is a dark blue color combined with natural beech wood and silver-colored metal designs. The value of the furniture is estimated at NIS 500,000.
Micha Oberman, CEO of Lavi Furniture, noted that in the past year the factory has designed and manufactured about eight new synagogues in England.
So far, the company has produced furniture for about 52 synagogues in England, most of them in London.
Lavi’s furniture is installed in 5,300 synagogues in Israel and around the world.
