Johan Cruyff

The city of Barcelona inaugurate­d a new soccer field named for the legendary Dutch soccer player Johan Cruyff, who starred for the Barcelona soccer team and died a few years ago. Near the stadium is a statue in his image. Cruyff’s son, Jordi Cruyff, a former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach, took part in the ceremony, and many others came to pay tribute, including Lionel Messi, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto.

Mazor Robotics

Michael Karsenti, CEO of Caesarea Edmond Benjamin De Rothschild Assets Corp. and Sharon Levita, CEO of Mazor Robotics, signed a lease agreement in which Mazor will rent an entire building in the elaborate Eshel Campus, located in the southern part of Caesarea Business Park. Constructi­on of the campus cost NIS 77 million. Mazor, which was acquired by Medtronic last September for $1.6 billion, specialize­s in medical robotics equipment and technology for precision guided surgery.

Pinchi Mor

Last week, an event was held to celebrate the establishm­ent of a mothers’ fund in memory of Israeli supermodel Pinchi Mor. The fund will support independen­t mothers in Tel Aviv-Jaffa by paying for after school activities, camp, and tutors. The event was held at Zappa Herzliya and included a performanc­e by Rita, Yardena Arazi, Gali Atarti, Orna Datz, Marina Maximilian, Miri Messika and Shiri Maimon. There to offer their support were Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and his wife; Moti Reif, who was in charge of the evening; and the wives of Blue and White leaders: Revital Gantz and Lihi Lapid; and Tova and Sami Sagol.

Avigdor Liberman

Last Wednesday, Yisrael Beytenu Chairman Avigdor Liberman took a cultural respite from the election campaign, day trips and parlor meetings. Liberman and his wife, Ella, arrived at the Habima National Theater to see the play Halfon Hill Doesn’t Answer. Habima Theater General Manager Odelia Friedman welcomed the couple, who were greeted with enthusiast­ic applause in this pre-election period.

Samuel Thuita

Last Thursday, Kenya Ambassador to Israel Samuel Thuita arrived for an official visit at the Wolfson Medical Center, during which he was given an overview of the center’s vision and future plans by Wolfson’s director, Dr. Anat Angel. Simon Fisher, CEO of Save a Child’s Heart, also described the incredible humanitari­an activity carried out by Wolfson center doctors and staff in Kenya.
