IDF forces struck terror targets in the Gaza Strip over the weekend, after several rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip that struck the South, according to the IDF.

“The Israel Air Force struck several outposts of the Hamas terror group in response to rockets fired [at Israel] from the Gaza Strip,” the army stated.

According to Palestinian reports, the IDF caused damage to Hamas outposts but no casualties were reported.

On Saturday, a rocket siren was sounded in Kibbutz Nahal Oz as a number of Knesset members visited, including Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Gabi Ashkenazi, MK Orna Barbivai and MK Alon Schuster, The Jerusalem Post’s sister publication Maariv reported.

Rocket alert sirens also sounded in Alumim, Sufa and Nir Yitzhak, near the Gaza border, according to the IDF.

One projectile landed in an open field in the South, according to the Sha’ar HaNegev

Regional Council spokesperson. No injuries or property damage were reported.

The rockets were fired while tensions remain high over the release of US President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century.”

On Friday, sirens sounded in Sderot. The IDF said the projectile was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.

According to unconfirmed reports, shrapnel from the interceptor landed on a home in Sderot; there were no injuries reported.

The rocket fire comes several hours after three mortar shells were fired from the coastal enclave, leading an IDF tank to fire a shell at a Hamas observation post in the southern Strip. One of the mortar shells was intercepted by Iron Dome; the other two landed in open areas.

On Saturday, police forces were deployed to Sderot following reports of balloon sightings in the area. The area was closed off until the police bomb disposal experts finished examining the scene.

Also on Friday, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported that 14 Palestinians were injured, including 10 by live fire, in violent clashes with IDF troops taking place along the border fence.

Early on Friday, the IAF struck “a wide range of targets” in Gaza, including an underground weapons facility, in response to three rockets and explosive balloons fired from the Palestinian enclave at Israel as well as sniper fire against an army position along the border fence.

A mother and her three-weekold baby were injured when the incoming rocket siren was activated in Sderot on Thursday night. The mother fell with the infant while running downstairs to get into a bomb shelter. The baby suffered moderate to serious head injuries while the 30-year-old mother suffered light wounds.

In Jerusalem on Friday, dozens of Muslim worshipers held a procession chanting nationalistic slogans at the end of morning prayers on the Temple Mount, Israel police said in a statement. Following the disorders, police forces entered the area and dispersed the crowd, restoring the calm, it added.
