A 62-year-old woman was stabbed in a suspected terrorist attack in Kfar Saba next to the G Mall on Tuesday, just minutes before the national ceremony at Mount Herzl in memory of those who have fallen to terrorist attacks was to take place.

The victim was treated by Magen David Adom medics and paramedics at the scene and transferred to the trauma center at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba.

The woman underwent surgery on Tuesday evening and was placed in the center’s intensive care unit, Maariv reported.

She is stable and in “good” condition, according to a doctor from the medical center.

The victim was mainly hurt on her limbs, back and chest, Head of the Trauma Unit at Meir Medical Center Dr. Uri Yusolevitch said. He added that she was brought to the medical center and given a blood transfusion and is expected to be released from the hospital on Wednesday.

A civilian who was driving by saw the attack and shot the suspected terrorist. The suspect is in moderate condition and was transferred by ZAKA to the Tel Hashomer Medical Center. He is reportedly a 19-yearold Palestinian from Tulkarm, a Palestinian town in the West Bank located north of Kfar Saba, according to Army Radio.

The stabbing victim’s sister said she was stabbed seven times, but her internal organs were not injured, Kan 11 reported. She expressed her regret that the man who shot the stabber did not kill the terrorist.

“I want to prevent the next attack,” she told Kan 11. “We need police units there 24/7. My sister was lucky, perhaps the other person won’t be.”

“Any terrorist who wields a knife [should know] his life is now forfeit,” she said. “[We need a] death penalty for terrorists.”

Israel Police are investigating the incident and searches are reportedly ongoing for an additional suspect..

“When we arrived to the scene, we saw a woman, about 62-years-old, fully conscious lying on the road,” said MDA medic Elazar Habani. “We conducted initial tests and saw a number of bleeding stab wounds. We gave her lifesaving treatment including stopping the bleeding, and transferred her urgently to the hospital while continuing treatment and reporting to the doctors who were waiting for us.”

President Reuven Rivlin addressed the stabbing attack on Tuesday via Twitter, saying that the whole country is praying for the victim’s speedy recovery.

“Facing the terrible terror, we will act with a strong, uncompromising hand to ensure the safety of our citizens anywhere they may be,” Rivlin wrote.

Blue and White leader Benny Gantz also took to Twitter on Tuesday to wish the stabbing victim a quick recovery and lauded the civilian who stopped the attacker.

“We must remember that even now, when we remember those who fell [in combat], IDF soldiers and other security forces stand guard against terror and keep us all safe,” he wrote.
