Clubhouse’s ‘Night of 1,000 Jewish Stars’ Passover Seder to be broadcast live

- • By HANNAH BROWN

Buzzfeed’s Tasty announced they would partner in the broadcast of a Clubhouse Passover Seder on March 28 at 7 p.m. (EST) and March 29 at 2 a.m. in Israel, called the “Night of 1,000 Jewish Stars.”

It will be available in the Hot on the Mic Club on Clubhouse, a voice-chat app, and will also be broadcast on Buzzfeed Tasty’s YouTube Channel, PassoverSeder.club

The star-studded event which is being created, written, and hosted by Hot on the Mic’s Leah Lamarr, co-hosted by media personality Nicole Behnam and officiated by Sinai Temple’s Rabbi David Wolpe and Rabbi Sandra Lawson will benefit the nonprofit organization, Value Culture, which produces and supports artistic, educational, charitable, and spiritual events and initiatives to inspire individuals to give back to communities in need.

The event will feature special guest appearances and performances by celebrities including Jeff Garlin, Tiffany Haddish, Michael Rappaport, Mayim Bialik, Noa Tishby, Jonathan Hadas, Tehran Von Ghasri, Julius C. Thomas, Marc Andreessen, Ben Horowitz, Felicia Horowitz, Sophie Auster, Jared Freid, Jimmie Fails and Kosha Dillz. A number of Holocaust survivors

will also take part.

The event will adapt the ancient Passover rituals to 21st century technology by using a matzah NFT (non-fungible token) – a oneof-a-kind collectible piece of digital art created specifically for the event – as the afikoman in the Seder. The unique NFT will be auctioned off during the event with all proceeds going to Value Culture.

Another will be hidden in the Clubhouse audience to be found.

“I was excited by this idea because it is a chance to re-imagine a tradition that is literally thousands of years old,” said fnnch, a digital artist who created the matza NFT. “If Clubhouse is the home in which Passover will take place, then hiding an NFT matza — a singular piece that only one person can find — is the new hiding of the afikoman.”

“Value Culture’s dream is coming true as we are celebrating freedom for all and diversity with this inclusive Passover Seder that not just Jewish people will enjoy,” said Value Culture’s founder, Adam Swig. “All donations will go towards supporting anti-hate, food security, and mental wellness initiatives.”

“If 2020 was the year of the Zoom Seder, 2021 is the year of the Clubhouse Seder,” said executive producer Randi Zuckerberg.
