PM’s son receives threatening letter with bullet attached

Another threatening letter has been sent to the Bennett family. A source aware of the details told Walla on Thursday that the letter was addressed to the prime minister’s son, Yoni Bennett, and the envelope contained a bullet.

This is the second time in the past week that a threatening letter has been addressed to the prime minister’s family members. The report regarding the previous letter was published three days ago, and the investigation of the case was entrusted to the Shin Bet and Lahav 433 unit of the police.

The threats led to a series of condemnations in the political system, led by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his son.

“Political conflict, no matter how profound, should not reach violence, bullying and death threats,” Bennett tweeted. “We need to do everything, as leaders and as citizens whose future and the future of their children are in this country, so that such phenomena simply do not happen.”

The prime minister’s son, Yoni, to whom the letter was allegedly personally addressed, also condemned the incident on social media. “It’s so sad that things like this happen because of incitement,” he said.

Alternate Prime Minister Yair Lapid also joined in. “The letter threatening the prime minister’s life is a sad and dangerous reminder of where incitement could lead,” he stressed. “We will continue to fight the discourse of hatred in the street, online, everywhere. They will not scare us. The extremists will not defeat the sane majority.”

About eight months ago, an indictment was filed against a 45-year-old man from Kiryat Gat, who called the police station and threatened to harm Bennett. Lachish police located the man in Kiryat Gat, and during the interrogation, he linked himself to the incident and confirmed that he planned to harm the prime minister. (Walla)
