Come sarà la città del futuro? Il concept Shanshui City presentato nel 2012 alla Beijing Design Week era la risposta di Ma Yansong, fondatore dello studio MAD Architects di Pechino. Ora, in occasione del decennale dello studio, da questa riflessione è nato “Shanshui City”, un elegante volume curato dal visual designer Kenya Hara che alterna realizzazioni e flosofa di MAD, uno dei più attivi laboratori d’architettura della Cina, e del mondo. Letteralmente “città di montagne e di acque”, Shanshui City è una ricerca concettuale che si ricollega all’antica pratica cinese di costruire in luoghi strategici dopo averne analizzato la topografa e le risorse naturali. Un’ideale integrazione di architettura e paesaggio cui oggi si torna a guardare con più attenzione. (Sa.B) What will the city of the future be like? The Shanshui City concept presented at the Beijing Design Week in 2012 was the response of Ma Yansong, founder of the MAD Architects studio in Beijing. Now, on the occasion of the studio’s tenth anniversary, out of this reflection has come Shanshui City, an elegant volume with a layout by visual designer Kenya Hara that alternates descriptions of MAD’s works with expositions of the philosophy of what is one of the most active workshops of architecture in China, and the world. Literally a “city of mountains and water”, Shanshui City is a piece of conceptual research that harks back to the ancient Chinese practice of building in strategic locations after analysing their topography and natural resources. An ideal integration of architecture and landscape to which we are starting to pay more attention again today
