Giacomo Moor è inglese d’origine ma è diventato un milanese doc, designer-imprenditore che, oltre a gestire lo studio, ha avviato una produzione legata alla propria falegnameria attigua agli spazi di lavoro. Applica i segreti della lavorazione del legno a progetti su misura per clienti diversi, come Acerbis International di cui al Salone vedremo il mobile contenitore Low Alterego, e saltuariamente a collezioni speciali dove ha modo di sperimentare con maggiore libertà. Accadrà al Fuorisalone con la serie Pivot, per
Spotti Edizioni Milano, dove i mobili di legno fossile poggiano su lineari strutture tubolari che nascondono un meccanismo ingegnoso per l’apertura di ante e cassetti, con un sistema pivotante al posto delle cerniere. Alcune parti sono rivestite di ottone acidato fornito dalla storica Fonderia Artistica Battaglia. E proprio nella Fonderia sarà presentato anche Pontifex, un tavolo dal sapore architettonico, realizzato per la mostra che la Galleria Giustini/
Stagetti dedica a Moor e Umberto Riva. Il disegno del tavolo dal piano di pietra rimanda ai ponti dell’antichità, come suggerisce il nome: nasce dall’unione tra le linee spezzate della centina, l’ossatura del ponte stesso e l’armonica tensione dell’arco.
Giacomo Moor has British origins but is Milanese through and through, a designer-entrepreneur who, as well as running his own studio, has begun production linked to the carpentry workshop that adjoins the work spaces. He applies the secrets of working wood to projects for different clients, such as Acerbis Interna
tional (whose Low Alterego storage unit will be on show at the Furniture Fair) and occasionally to special collections where he has an opportunity to work more freely. This will be seen at the Fuorisalone with the Pivot series, for Spotti Edizioni Milano, where furniture items made from fossil wood rest on tubular structures that conceal an ingenious door and drawer opening mechanism, with a pivoting system instead of hinges. Some parts are clad in acidetched brass supplied by Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, where he will be presenting Pontifex, a table with an architectural flavour, made for the exhibition Giustini/Stagetti Gallery dedicates to Moor and Umberto Riva. The table, with stone top, echoes the methods used to build bridges in ancient times, being the result of the coming together of the broken lines of the frame, the bridge’s support structure, and the tension of the arch.
