UMBERTO ZANETTI

Livornese, classe 1957, è laureato in Ingegneria Civile al Politecnico di Milano. Ha fondato lo studio ZDAZanetti Design Architettura impegnato in Italia e all’estero in progetti di abitazione, social housing, spazi per l’ospitalità e di lavoro. A Milano-Cascina Merlata, ha in corso il progetto residenziale Up Town. Per la rivista Area ha curato i numeri dedicati alle città di Mosca, L’Avana e Buenos Aires ed è autore della guida
On The Road City - Moscow.
Born in Livorno in 1957, he graduated in Civil Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. His studio ZDA-Zanetti Design Architettura works in Italy and abroad on residential projects, social housing and spaces for hospitality and work.
He is currently working on the Up Town residential project in Milan-Cascina Merlata. He edited the special issues of the Area magazine on the cities of Moscow, Havana and Buenos Aires and is the author of the guidebook

WITH ITS “WILDSCAPE” REPRODUCING THE FOUR CLIMATIC AND VEGETATION ZONES OF RUSSIA – taiga, steppe, tundra and floodplain – along the banks of the Moskva River, Zaryadye Park takes its name from the area next to the Kremlin and Red Square in which the Jewish quarter used to be located and where buildings symbolic of the Soviet era once stood (a tower from Stalin’s time and the gigantic Rossiya Hotel, demolished in 2007). Given its position and enormous real-estate potential, the area was for years the focus of schemes of luxury residential development that were never realized, until the city government – under the guidance of its chief architect Sergey Kuznetsov – made the surprise announcement that it had decided to create a large park on the site.
