URBAN IRONY

QUELLA DI BIANCOSHOCK È UN’ARTE IRONICA E PROVOCATORIA. Questo “artigiano” milanese da ormai 15 anni modifica il paesaggio urbano per raccontare il mondo contemporaneo e sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica. Tra le sue opere più note c’è BorderLife, lo spazio interno di un tombino trasformato in bagno o mini appartamento. Attraverso l’aggiunta o la sottrazione di dettagli materici e/o cromatici, l’artista modifica oggetti e manufatti del quotidiano stradale e ne cambia la chiave di lettura. Così riesce a dare un nuovo significato al panorama in cui siamo immersi e agli elementi che ne fanno parte. Le sue “modifiche” sono ironiche e a volte disturbanti, pensate per catturare l’attenzione dei passanti e per smuovere emozioni in modo da trasmettere un messaggio spesso legato all’attualità: la crisi economica, l’ambiente, la globalizzazione, l’immigrazione, il virtuale. BIANCOSHOCK’S IS AN IRONIC and provocative art. For 15 years now, this Milanese “artisan” has been changing the urban landscape to showcase the contemporary world and raise public awareness. Among his best known works is BorderLife, the space inside a manhole transformed into a domestic space. Through the addition or subtraction of material and/ or chromatic details, the artist modifies objects and artefacts and changes the way we see them. Thus he manages to give new meaning to the landscape in which we are immersed. His “changes” are ironic and sometimes disturbing, designed to capture the attention of passersby in order to convey a message tied to current events: the financial crisis, the environment, globalisation, immigration, the virtual.
