VILLA MAJORELLE IS REBORN

RESTAURATA E RIAPERTA AL PUBBLICO, VILLA MAJORELLE è tra le più celebri icone dell’Art Nouveau francese. Concepita a partire dal 1898 da Henri Sauvage come opera d’arte totale, fu realizzata a Nancy nel 1901-1902 su incarico del facoltoso ebanista Louis Majorelle (nel ritratto con la moglie). Di proprietà comunale dal 2003, la villa è oggetto di acquisizioni, che hanno riportato in loco gli arredi della camera da letto e della sala da pranzo. Il restauro ha liberato gli esterni da superfetazioni, concentrandosi negli interni sul recupero degli apparati decorativi e sull’allestimento di spazi dedicati ai visitatori e agli ausili multimediali. RESTORED AND REOPENED TO THE PUBLIC, VILLA MAJORELLE is one of the most famous icons of French Art Nouveau. Conceived, beginning in 1898, by Henri Sauvage as a total work of art, it was built in Nancy in 1901-1902 for the wealthy cabinetmaker Louis Majorelle (in the portrait with his wife). The property of the city since 2003, significant acquisitions have been made for the house, which brought back the furnishings of the bedroom and the dining room. The restoration has freed the exteriors of accretions, while focusing in the interiors on the recovery of the decorative elements and on the design of spaces dedicated to visitors and multimedia aids.
