The sea in a room
WATER IS THE KEY ELEMENT OF A VILLA ON THE ITALIAN COAST, WHERE CHANDELIERS AND FURNISHINGS PLAY WITH TONES OF BLUE.
A seaside villa in constant dialogue with the natural setting. The spaces are as open as possible, and the furnishings – tables that look like slabs of ice, delicate crystal chandeliers, intense blue sofas and mirrors with turquoise frames – speak of the irresistible lure of the sea. A stylistic approach that reflects the nautical passions of the owners, a creative couple that spends time here mostly on weekends. «We did the decorating ourselves», they say. «The focus was simplicity, making optimum use of the available space, creating an indoor-outdoor connection for entertaining». The house has a decidedly modern image, with artfully staggered planes and volumes and pure lines. The total white finish fits aptly into the surrounding landscape. The natural materials have been selected with elegance. Vintage mirrors reflect the stone walls. Daybeds by Paola Lenti mingle harmoniously with rocks artfully arranged by the landscape architect Jean Mus. The classic Eames Lounge Chair, in a white leather version, looks towards the foliage through the living room windows. Nature, design and art vie for center stage. Important paintings and fine design objects are everywhere, but it is the sea, there within reach, that remains the true protagonist, the true spectacle seen through the many windows. The relationship with water is also a matter of sound. «I love to listen to the water, so I had the pool raised by 40 cm, to hear the water flowing over its edge». Natural music for a place in perfect symbiosis with its setting.
