-

Emirates Airline, one of the airlines with the fastest growth in the world, has received over 500 international awards for excellence and has over 8 million Skywards members around the world. It flies to 135 destinations in 76 countries with 200 wide-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft and another 195 planes on order for a value of 99 billion dollars. This year it cemented its place as one of the world’s leading international airlines after winning the coveted “World’s Best Airline” award from Skytrax at the Paris Airshow during the World Airline Awards 2013. Over 18 million travellers from more than 160 countries take part by voting to decide the winners of these accolades. In addition to receiving this recognition, Emirates scooped up another two awards: the “Best Middle East Airline” and, for a record ninth year in a row, the “World’s Best Inflight Entertainment”. Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, on collecting the award underlined, “Being honoured with these awards is testament to our unrelenting effort to be the world’s best airline. We are constantly striving to offer our customers consistent, world-class service that extends from the moment they make their booking to the moment they arrive home at the end of their journey.” These awards, which measure standards of excellence, recognise Emirates’ drive to deliver high-quality services. Since launching in 1985, Emirates has grown into one of the largest and most dynamic airlines in the world and has transformed Dubai into one of the largest connecting hubs for global air travel. Last year over 39 million customers flew with Emirates, connecting across the airline’s global network and enjoying the airline’s extensive on-board innovations, including the industry leading inflight entertainment system “Ice”, which offers over 1,400 channels of enter tainment - films, television and music. Emirates continues to be a leader in revolutionising air travel, working closely with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure all aspects of the customer experience are second to none. Today in Italy, it operates over 49 weekly flights, including three per day from Milan Malpensa Airport, two from Rome Fiumicino Airport and two from Venice Marco Polo Airport. This year, from Milan Malpensa, it launched its first trans-Atlantic flight to New York with a Boeing 777-300ER, an extension of one of the three daily connections already operating between Dubai and Milan. And, again at Milan Malpensa, it recently inaugurated its 35th Lounge dedicated to First Class and Business Class travellers and Gold Members of Skywards, Emirates frequent flyer programme. Following closely from the opening of the Emirates First Class and Business Class lounges in Concourse A - Dubai Airport, the world’s first dedicated A380 Concourse, the Emirates Lounge at Milan Malpensa Airport, a Euro 2.48 million investment, is the first international lounge to feature the airline’s contemporary new interior design. Constantly seeking to innovate, the new lounge design is reflective of the understated luxury standards of Dubai Concourse A.
