Emi­rates, the best air­line of 2013

Emi­rates Air­line, one of the air­lines with the fastest growth in the world, has re­ceived over 500 in­ter­na­tional awards for ex­cel­lence and has over 8 mil­lion Sky­wards mem­bers around the world. It flies to 135 des­ti­na­tions in 76 coun­tries with 200 wide-body Air­bus and Boe­ing air­craft and another 195 planes on or­der for a value of 99 bil­lion dol­lars. This year it ce­mented its place as one of the world’s lead­ing in­ter­na­tional air­lines af­ter win­ning the cov­eted “World’s Best Air­line” award from Sky­trax at the Paris Air­show dur­ing the World Air­line Awards 2013. Over 18 mil­lion trav­ellers from more than 160 coun­tries take part by vot­ing to de­cide the win­ners of th­ese ac­co­lades. In ad­di­tion to re­ceiv­ing this recog­ni­tion, Emi­rates scooped up another two awards: the “Best Mid­dle East Air­line” and, for a record ninth year in a row, the “World’s Best In­flight En­ter­tain­ment”. Tim Clark, Pres­i­dent of Emi­rates Air­line, on col­lect­ing the award un­der­lined, “Be­ing hon­oured with th­ese awards is tes­ta­ment to our un­re­lent­ing ef­fort to be the world’s best air­line. We are con­stantly striv­ing to of­fer our cus­tomers con­sis­tent, world-class ser­vice that ex­tends from the mo­ment they make their book­ing to the mo­ment they ar­rive home at the end of their jour­ney.” Th­ese awards, which mea­sure stan­dards of ex­cel­lence, recog­nise Emi­rates’ drive to de­liver high-qual­ity ser­vices. Since launch­ing in 1985, Emi­rates has grown into one of the largest and most dy­namic air­lines in the world and has trans­formed Dubai into one of the largest con­nect­ing hubs for global air travel. Last year over 39 mil­lion cus­tomers flew with Emi­rates, con­nect­ing across the air­line’s global net­work and en­joy­ing the air­line’s ex­ten­sive on-board in­no­va­tions, in­clud­ing the in­dus­try lead­ing in­flight en­ter­tain­ment sys­tem “Ice”, which of­fers over 1,400 chan­nels of en­ter tain­ment - films, tele­vi­sion and mu­sic. Emi­rates con­tin­ues to be a leader in rev­o­lu­tion­is­ing air travel, work­ing closely with man­u­fac­tur­ers and sup­pli­ers to en­sure all as­pects of the cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence are sec­ond to none. To­day in Italy, it op­er­ates over 49 weekly flights, in­clud­ing three per day from Mi­lan Malpensa Air­port, two from Rome Fi­u­mi­cino Air­port and two from Venice Marco Polo Air­port. This year, from Mi­lan Malpensa, it launched its first trans-At­lantic flight to New York with a Boe­ing 777-300ER, an ex­ten­sion of one of the three daily con­nec­tions al­ready op­er­at­ing be­tween Dubai and Mi­lan. And, again at Mi­lan Malpensa, it re­cently in­au­gu­rated its 35th Lounge ded­i­cated to First Class and Busi­ness Class trav­ellers and Gold Mem­bers of Sky­wards, Emi­rates fre­quent flyer pro­gramme. Fol­low­ing closely from the open­ing of the Emi­rates First Class and Busi­ness Class lounges in Con­course A - Dubai Air­port, the world’s first ded­i­cated A380 Con­course, the Emi­rates Lounge at Mi­lan Malpensa Air­port, a Euro 2.48 mil­lion in­vest­ment, is the first in­ter­na­tional lounge to fea­ture the air­line’s con­tem­po­rary new in­te­rior de­sign. Con­stantly seek­ing to in­no­vate, the new lounge de­sign is re­flec­tive of the un­der­stated lux­ury stan­dards of Dubai Con­course A. The largest ded­i­cated Lounge at Mi­lan Malpensa Air­port, the in­te­rior de­sign pro­vides a seam­less tran­si­tion to the el­e­gant en­vi­ron­ment of a First Class or Busi­ness Class on-board suite, with a colour pal­ette re­flect­ing the neu­tral, earthy tones that cus­tomers have
