QUATTRO COMUNITÀ – Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta, Seravezza e Stazzema – e uno speciale anniversario da celebrare: i cinquecento anni di Michelangelo in Versilia. Proprio nel 1518, infatti, per ordine di Papa Giovanni de’ Medici e chiudendo bruscamente i rapporti intrattenuti fino a quel momento con i cavatori di Carrara, Buonarroti approdò a Seravezza per saggiare i giacimenti del Monte Altissimo ed estrarre – questo era l’auspicio – i marmi necessari alla realizzazione della facciata della Basilica di San Lorenzo di Firenze, tempio della dinastia medicea. Facciata che purtroppo non si fece. Ma nei suoi tre anni di permanenza in Versilia Michelangelo lasciò comunque un’impronta indelebile, favorendo la nascita e lo sviluppo delle attività marmifere ed aprendo la strada dal monte al mare attorno alla quale nacque poi e si sviluppò il borgo di Forte dei Marmi. Per celebrare in varie forme la ricorrenza, le quattro amministrazioni comunali interessate hanno dato vita ad un coordinamento, realizzato un logo ed annunciato un programma triennale di eventi. GELO’S FIVE CENTURIES | when he arrived in Seravezza, the “genius from Caprese” changed history – and Versilia is now commemorating his stay here | Four communities – Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, and Stazzema – and one very special anniversary to celebrate: the five-hundredth of Michelangelo’s arrival in Versilia. It was 1518. By order of Pope Leo X (Giovanni de’ Medici) and after having brusquely interrupted his dealings with the Carrara quarriers, Buonarroti traveled to Seravezza to assay the Monte Altissimo marble fields, for the purpose of extracting the stone needed for construction of the facade of Florence’s Basilica of San Lorenzo, the temple of the Medici dynasty. A facelift that, unfortunately, never happened. But in his three years in Versilia, Michelangelo left an indelible mark on the territory, stimulating development of marble-quarrying and opening a road from the mountain to the sea, a “marble road” at whose terminus the settlement known as Forte dei Marmi arose and began to grow. To celebrate this anniversary, the governments of the four aforementioned cities have formed a coordinating body, created a single logo, and announced a three-year events program. Сегодня Версилья отмечает это событие | Четыре муниципалитета – Форте дей Марми, Пьетрасанта, Серавецца и Стаццема отмечают в этом году особую дату : пятьсот лет жизни Микеланджело в Версилье. Именно в 1518 году по поручению Папы Джованни де Медичи, резко оборвав отношения, поддерживаемые до того момента с каменщиками Каррары, Буонарроти основался в Серавецце с целью освоения горы Альтиссимо и добычи в ней мрамора, необходимого для выполнения фасада Базилики Сан Лоренцо во Флоренции, храма династии Медичей. К сожалению, фасад остался существовать только в проекте. Но за три года пребывания в Версилье Микеланджело оставил после себя незабываемый след, поспособствовав зарождению и развитию мрамородобывающей промышленности, а также открыв дорогу от горы к морю, вдоль которой родился и вырос Форте дей Марми. Чтобы отметить юбилей мероприятиями различного плана, все четыре администрации муниципалитетов составили план тематических событий на трехлетний период.
