Carbon cool for the Mills 73
Waterlines by Mark Mills and interiors by Nauta Design will grace the 23-metre in build at Maxi Dolphin, making it a very interesting proposition. With a carbon construction and sliding keel, it is designed to combine the agile performance of a racer with the comfort of a cruiser. “We developed the project in collaboration with the project manager and owner who both believe in light, simple designs. So we created a clean, uncuttered deck plan that almost skims the water with all the sail controls running under the deck,” explains Mills.
Nauta Design drew on classical marine styling for the interiors of the Mills 73’, but freshened them up for the modern world. The result is light, clean geometries and décor. Bulkheads, walls and furnishings feature lower areas in “scratched” oak while the upper sections are white-panelled. The boat will have three cabins and accommodate seven guests. Costruito in carbonio con chiglia retrattile, questo scafo è stato pensato per avere le performance di un racer e i comfort di un cruiser. «Abbiamo sviluppato il progetto in collaborazione con Project Manager e Armatore che credono in un design semplice e leggero. Per questo abbiamo pensato a un piano di coperta quasi a pelo d’acqua, pulito e libero, con i rimandi di tutte le manovre che corrono sottocoperta», spiega Mills. Per l’interior design del nuovo Mills 73’, Nauta Design si è ispirata a uno stile classico con elementi marini rivisitati in chiave moderna, in cui la leggerezza e la pulizia sono il leitmotiv delle geometrie e del décor. Paratie, murate e mobilio sono decorati in stile “lambris”: la parte inferiore è in rovere con effetto “graffiato”, mentre la parte superiore è realizzata in pannelli bianchi che esaltano la pulizia del design. La barca avrà tre cabine doppie per sette ospiti.
