World premiered at Cannes to a rapturous reception, Ridoc is the very first example to splash of the new MV19 sporty, easy-cruising line announced by Baglietto three years ago. Built by the La Spezia yard for a European owner, the new yacht belongs to series that is the natural evolution of the MV13, the first example of which was built for none other than Lapo Elkann.
The MV19 has a military-inspired 19.5-metre hull built entirely from aluminium and clothed in severe, aggressive lines, just like her smaller sibling. In fact, Ridoc has the look and feel of the classic MAS fast torpedo boats used by the Italian Royal Navy during the First and Second World Wars.
Italian poet and MAS skipper Gabriele D’Annunzio, who also owned a Baglietto called Alcyone, turned the famous MAS acronym (motoscafo anti-sommergibile - anti-submarine motorboat) into the now-famous “memento audere semper”, (remember to always dare) motto, at the christening of one of Baglietto’s MAS craft. That phrase sits very well too with Ridoc which bears the stamp of Francesco Paszkowski Design on both her interiors and exteriors as well as that of the Baglietto technical office on her hull, plant and propulsion system. Presentato in anteprima mondiale a Cannes, dove ha ottenuto un incredibile successo di pubblico, Ridoc è il primo esemplare di MV19 ( la linea di scafi sportivi easy cruising lanciata da Baglietto tre anni fa) che il cantiere Spezzino ha realizzato per un armatore europeo ed è la naturale evoluzione di quell’MV13 il cui primo esemplare fu costruito per Lapo Elkann e presentato, sempre a Cannes, tre anni fa.
L’MV19 è uno scafo lungo 19,50 metri, interamente realizzato in alluminio, di ispirazione militare con linee aggressive e rigorose, esattamente come il suo fratello minore. Ridoc evoca, infatti, il Mas, motoscafo anti-sommergibile o motoscafo armato silurante, un’imbarcazione da guerra utilizzata dalla Regia Marina durante la Prima e la Seconda guerra mondiale.
Gabriele D’Annunzio, poeta, pilota di Mas e proprietario di un Baglietto chiamato Alcyone, trasformò l’acronimo Mas nella famosa frase “memento audere semper”, (ricordati di osare sempre), proprio in occasione del battesimo di uno dei Mas di Baglietto. Una frase che ben si addice anche a Ridoc che porta la firma dello studio Francesco Paszkowski Design per interni ed esterni e quella dell’ufficio tecnico di Baglietto per lo studio di carena, gli impianti e l’apparato propulsivo. intakes straking her freeboard and a teak deck characterise the spare exterior design. Its power and aggression are further underscored by a metallic grey livery chosen for the hull. Military efficiency has translated across to the new MV series (which spans 13 and 19-metre models) in performance terms also as the La Spezia yard’s technical office has produced a deep-vee hull that guarantees superb seakeeping and combined it with twin 1800 hp Mann V12s in the engine room. The result is an impressive and exhilarating 40-knot red-line speed, making it one of the fastest superyacht tenders on the market.
While the exterior is characterised by a clean-cut severity, the interiors have an elegant feel matched by a slew of ultra-high tech accessories. Both the interior layout and décor were put in the capable hands of the Studio Paszkowski which, as always, called in Margherita Casprini to help out. Luxe materials and refined finishes brilliantly bring together past and future: the result is a retro ambience and superbly comfortable surroundings. Canaletto walnut trim alternates with glossy white-painted walls and dark-stained aged oak floors. A spacious open-plan dinette, inviting sofas and a well-equipped galley are the other signatures of Ridoc’s interiors.
The overall impact is of a boat with a very strong character all of its own and interiors that while absolutely consistent with the sporty exterior lines, also deliver to a T simmetriche lungo il bordo libero dello scafo e il ponte in teak definiscono il tratto essenziale del design degli esterni, la cui forza e aggressività è ulteriormente rafforzata dal grigio scuro metallizzato scelto per la colorazione dello scafo.
Per la nuova linea di scafi MV, 13 metri e 19 metri, l’efficienza militare si esprime anche sul piano delle prestazioni. Lo studio tecnico del cantiere spezzino ha infatti messo a punto uno scafo a V profonda che garantisce un buona tenuta in mare e, in sala macchine, ha installato due motori Man V12 da 1800hp, che permettono all’MV19 di raggiungere la notevole velocità di 40 nodi e di posizionarsi, quindi, tra le più veloci imbarcazioni della sua fascia di mercato.
Se rigore e linee pulite sono le caratteristiche degli esterni, per quanto riguarda gli interni, il tratto diventa elegante e gli accessori ipertecnologici. Layout e décor sono stati affidati allo Studio Paszkowski che, come sempre, si è avvalso della preziosa collaborazione di Margherita Casprini. Per la loro realizzazione sono stati utilizzati materiali di pregio e finiture ricercate per trovare la perfetta sincronia tra passato e futuro che regalasse all’insieme un’atmosfera rétro in un ambiente molto confortevole. I rivestimenti sono in noce canaletto alternato a pareti bianche laccate lucide, i pavimenti sono in rovere invecchiato scuro. Una spaziosa open dinette, divani comodi e una cucina equipaggiata sono altri tratti distintivi
on comfort and accessories. The audio-visual system and onboard network, installed by Videoworks, also reflect the MAS philosophy of combining efficiency with the leading-edge.
The owner’s suite is forward on the lower deck with the two guest staterooms amidships separated by the dinette and galley. The owner was very much involved in the honing and crafting of the interiors and even specified a further cabin for the captain on this deck with direct deck access. The lovely, all-teak main deck was designed for much more relaxed lifestyle that the military one aboard the original MAS: aside from a steering position with 24” screen, it has lots of comfortable seating and large forward and aft sunning zones where both owner and guests can chill to their hearts’ content.
Memento audere semper: with her steel and power, design and technology – Ridoc ushers in a whole new take on that classic MAS motto. degli interni di Ridoc. Il risultato finale è una barca dal carattere deciso, con interni coerenti con le linee esterne sportive, ma confortevole e superaccessoriata.
Il sistema audio-video e la rete di bordo, installati da Videoworks, sono in linea con la filosofia Mas: efficienza e avanguardia.
La cabina armatoriale è situata sottocoperta a prua e le due cabine ospiti, a centro barca, sono separate dalla dinette con galley. Sempre su questo ponte l’armatore, che ha contribuito fortemente alla definizione degli interni, ha voluto un’ulteriore cabina riservata al comandante, con accesso diretto dalla coperta.
Il ponte di coperta, interamente in teak, è stato studiato per uno stile di vita più rilassato che militare: oltre alla zona di comando con schermo 24’, prevede infatti comode sedute e di un’ampia zona prendisole a prua e a poppa per accogliere ospiti e armatore in totale relax.
Memento audere semper: tra acciaio e potenza, design e tecnologia, Ridoc ha inaugurato una nuova versione del motto dannunziano ispirato dallo storico Mas.
