The very name Ilumen stands for the illumination of ideas and engineering processes. “The Dominator Ilumen yachts are bespoke through and through – from the choice of the hull between a semi-displacement and semi-planing version, to the individual comfort cruising speed, the propulsion system or the complete re-engineering of the internal spaces, to name only a few options” says Angela. The first Dominator Ilumen 28M was starring at the Cannes Boat Show.

Il nome Ilumen, del resto, sta per illuminismo delle idee e dei processi di ingegnerizzazione. «Gli yacht della serie Ilumen di Dominator sono dei veri custom: dalla scelta della carena, semidislocante o semiplanante, a quella della velocità di crociera, fino al sistema propulsivo o alla completa riorganizzazione degli interni, tutto può essere adattato alle esigenze dell’armatore», spiega Angela. Il primo Dominator Ilumen 28M è stato presentato a Cannes, dove ha ottenuto un incredibile successo grazie al concept innovativo, alle nuove soluzioni di ingegnerizzazazione e all’uso di tenologie di ultima generazione.

Tutte queste caratteristiche, unite al fatto che ogni Ilumen 28M è unico grazie alla possibilità di avere interni totalmente su misura, fanno di questo yacht una pietra miliare che stabilisce nuovi standard in fatto di performance, agilità, lusso e sicurezza. E che, in soli 28 metri, offre l’abitabilità e il comfort di un megayacht. «Oggi il design è importantissimo e gli armatori chiedono yacht che siano al top sia come prestazioni sia come lusso, stile e abitabilità. Ed è proprio per accontentarli che abbiamo disegnato uno yacht che armonizzasse alla perfezione lo stile più classico con il design e le tecnoclogie più moderne», spiega Alber-

The designers of Alberto Mancini and engineers of NavalHEAD followed the inspired lead provided by Dominator’s owners to arrive at a flowing architecture that harmonises functionality, form, comfort, amenities, power, safety and sea keeping agility like no other vessel in its class. This new yacht marks the birth of a new class of boats, so-called Mega Body, with its interior space typical of a larger yacht, enclosed by a full beam superstructure. “When I first saw the hull, deck and superstructure I realised it was the beginning of a new era”, says Alberto Mancini. And indeed, the features such as the owner’s cabin, a beautifully curved glass frontage, the rotating beach platform and the impressive fly deck are unique, industry-leading features.

“The interior dressing of each yacht is a highly personal affair, so we work with the owners to make it a bespoke design that fits them like a glove in terms of taste and preferences”, says Giulia Sigismondi.

The interior distribution is such that it creates a sense of being on a much larger ship, a sensation realised in part through tall ceilings and the use of glassed areas that allow natural light and seascapes to illuminate the luxurious cabin spaces. Nowhere is this approach more impressive than in the skylight and private deck of the master cabin, and it helps to create a truly privileged private space. Del resto, atout come l’incredibile cabina armatoriale, la grande vetrata di prua stondata e rovesciata, la piattaforma di poppa rotante e il fly deck non passano certo inosservati.

«Il design interno di ogni scafo viene scelto dall’armatore ed è per questo che lavoriamo a stretto contatto con lui per essere certi che il risultato sia esattamente quello desiderato», spiega Giulia Sigismondi. In linea di massima, però, la distribuzione degli interni viene pensata per dare la sensazione di trovarsi in uno scafo più grande.

The words of Andrea Agrusta, COO and Technical Director at NavalHEAD Engineering, summarize the concept idea of Ilumen 28M: “From the high-tech construction in post-cured glass and carbon mixed with epoxy resin to the full use of epoxy filler cycle and the application of the Awlcraft painting cycle instead of common cheap gel coats, every detail immediately tells you that Ilumen is something quite different”. Every function and space on an Ilumen – from the engine room to the luxury living spaces – is designed for optimal distribution of weight, space, functionality and aesthetics. Il concetto che si nasconde dietro questa barca è invece riassunto nelle parole di Andrea Agrusta, direttore operativo e tecnico della NavalHAD Engineering: «ogni singolo dettaglio comunica immediatamente che l’Ilumen 28M è qualcosa di diverso: a partire dalla costruzione altamente tecnologica in materiale composito post-curato, realizzato utilizzando fibre di vetro e carbonio intrise da una matrice di resina epossidica, fino all’applicazione del ciclo di stucchi epossidici e del relativo ciclo di pitturazione Awlcraft al posto dell’utilizzo dell’economico gelcoat ».

A bordo di un Ilumen ogni spazio, dalla sala macchine fino al più lussuoso dei saloni, è disegnato tenendo conto della miglior distribuzione dei pesi possibile, della funzione, dell’abitabilità e, ovviamente, dell’estetica. Infine, a bordo è stato installato un girostabilizzatore di Seakeeper in grado di ridurre il rollio dell’ 80 per cento.
