February 2016 to July 2017: that is how long it took from the first inklings of an idea to the launch of the Maiora 36 RPH, the latest addition to Maiora’s New Series which the yard itself asserts “both flanks and completes the classic range.” The yacht, which has the interior volumes and spaces of a much larger craft, was built, fitted out and finished in just 11 months. Impressive stuff given that it also has the broadest beam in its category (8.2 metres).
Even the fly is a beamy 7 metres – a good measure of the kind of space available throughout. Built from vacuum-infused GRP with Kevlar reinforcements, the Maiora 36 RPH ( Raised Pilot House) retains all the familiar Maiora styling elements, not least softly rounded windows underscored by angles that both separate and link the architectural elements. The new Maiora’s tauter forms combined with large glazed surfaces streamline the yacht too. The overall impact is the result of a joint effort between the yard’s own technical office, the Maiora Style Centre and Quartostile, a design studio that specialises in cars as well as yachts. The height of the exterior has been kept compact without impinging on the interiors as the living areas are absolutely comfortable. As, of course, are the deck areas, not least the sea view terrace afforded by the cockpit which connects directly to the beach club and the transom platform from where guests can board the 5-metre tender and jet ski.
There is also a further terrace-style area forward, just under the pilothouse windscreen and complete with a sofa and table, two sun pads and lots of free space. Last is the fly bridge which, because of its impressive width and hard top, reveals a lounge area with dining area, bar and, aft, a

Sono le date che segnano la nascita della prima idea e il varo del Maiora 36 RPH, nuovo tassello della linea Newseries che, come sottolineano in casa Maiora: «Affianca quella classica a cui vuole dare piena completezza». Undici mesi sono stati necessari, partendo da zero, per costruire, arredare e rifinire questa imbarcazione che ha spazi interni e volumi pari a quelli di yacht di ben maggiori dimensioni e che, con il baglio di 8,20 metri, può vantare il primato di larghezza nella sua categoria. E, sempre a sottolineare gli spazi disponibili bordo, a questo si aggiungono i 7 metri di larghezza del flybridge.
Costruito in vetroresina rinforzata con Kevlar, con laminazione sottovuoto e procedimento di infusione, il Maiora 36 RPH (sta per Raised Pilot House) mantiene in evidenza quelli che sono gli elementi propri e distintivi dei Maiora.
E quindi la particolare tessitura e sviluppo delle finestrature, così come le forme tondeggianti sottolineate da spigoli che staccano e collegano gli elementi architettonici. Elementi “forti” che sfruttano forme più tese rispetto alla classica linea dei Maiora, utilizzando grandi superfici vetrate che, a loro volta, snelliscono ulteriormente lo sviluppo volumetrico dello yacht. Un’impostazione generale che è il risultato del lavoro congiunto dell’Ufficio tecnico del cantiere, del Centro Stile Maiora e di Quartostile, studio di design impegnato oltre che nello yachting anche nell’automotive. Una collaborazione che ha contenuto le altezze esterne senza tuttavia penalizzare quelle interne realizzando così spazi da vivere in assoluta comodità. Caratteristica che domina anche nelle aree esterne. A cominciare dalla terrazza sul mare del pozzetto direttamente collegato al beach club e alla piattaforma di poppa dove imbarcarsi sui toys di bordo: un tender di 5
lounge zone and hydromassage tub. The owner of Harmony, as the first Maiora 36 RPH is called, was very specific about the interiors: “A linear style. Vaguely inspired by Mittel Europa rationalism but Art Deco art deco references.” Maiora’s technicians and workforce really dug deep to deliver but deliver they did. The yacht in its entirety was designed by the yard’s Style Centre drawing on a wide array of materials ranging from Canaletto walnut to granite, mirrors and Murano glass as well as several bespoke mosaics created especially for Harmony.
Some adorn the furniture panels while another is on the ceiling of the dining room. The stairwell is triumph too. Here glass, leather and mirrors are combined with black lacquered furnishings and unusual lighting to create an ambience that brilliantly showcases both the interior designers’ sensibilities and the skills of the yard’s craftsmen and women. The same can be said of the rest of the yacht, including the wonderfully bright, airy saloon where the windows are practically floor-to-ceiling.
The latter also flows into the dining room which in turn connects to the galley. To starboard of the galley is the corridor that signals the end of the guest area and leads into the master suite which occupies the entire forward area of the main deck, offering not just a bedroom with closets and bathroom but also an office. The furnishings have a glossy black lacquer finish while the bed has a padded headrest metri e un jet ski. Una serie di occasioni quindi per vivere il mare in prima persona che proseguono negli interni dove le indicazioni dell’armatore sono state molto particolari.
“Uno stile lineare. Squadrato. Con una vaga ispirazione al razionalismo mitteleuropeo, ma con richiami di art déco”, il briefing del proprietario di Harmony, questo il nome del primo Maiora 36 RPH. E per concretizzare le sue richieste i tecnici e le maestranze di Maiora sono state impegnate a fondo. Tutto è infatti progettato dal Centro Stile del cantiere utilizzando una serie di materiali che va dal noce canaletto, al granito, agli specchi, ai cristalli realizzati dai maestri di Murano, al vetro compresi alcuni mosaici policromi realizzati espressamente per Harmony. Alcuni sono applicati sulle pannellature dei mobili uno, inserito in un cassettone, arricchisce invece il soffitto della sala da pranzo. Una palette di materiali, colori e “mani” che fanno bella mostra di sé nella decorazione del vano scale di collegamento tra i ponti. Qui vetro, pelle, specchi, uniti ai mobili neri laccati e a una particolare illuminazione, realizzano un ambiente che ben esprime il livello di sensibilità degli interior designer e la

A spirit that also discreetly pervades the three guest cabins on the lower deck. Here, as throughout the yacht, the leitmotifs are the horizontal grain of the Canaletto walnut, the detailing and fabrics put to individual use in the various cabins, and the beautifully crafted marble in the bathrooms which further enhances the luxurious charm of the spaces. However, the most impressive factor of all is the astonishing space aboard the Maiora 36 RPH, a yacht that effortless encapsulates the “innovation in tradition” philosophy of Maiora’s new course. capacità delle maestranze. Da qui si accede alla suite armatoriale che occupa la zona prodiera del ponte principale e che comprende, oltre alla camera da letto, con armadi e bagno, anche uno studio. L’arredamento è caratterizzato da mobili laccati nero lucido, la testata del letto è capitonné mentre i comodini si richiamano all’art déco.
Ma soprattutto la suite armatoriale è dotata di un balcone che, sulla murata di dritta, si apre sul mare. Un elemento che rende unico quest’ambiente e ribadisce lo spirito del nuovo Maiora 36 RPH.
Spirito che, anche se in maniera più discreta rispetto all’armatoriale, permea anche le tre cabine per gli ospiti al ponte inferiore. Qui, con le venature orizzontali del noce canaletto a fare, come in tutto lo yacht, da leitmotiv, sono i dettagli, i tessuti usati in maniere differenti nelle varie cabine e i marmi nei bagni particolarmente lavorati a esaltare il fascino degli ambienti. E soprattutto lo spazio che domina sul Maiora 36 RPH, yacht che ben esprime quella innovazione nella tradizione che segna il nuovo corso di Maiora.
