The designs of Lautaro Amadeo Tambutto focus on a contemporary reinterpretation of his country’s roots, culture and traditions. Adopting a modern and minimal approach with dark accents, he leaves aside ideas of the gaucho, Argentinian folklore or nostalgic references, and instead reworks his origins to create tailored sport-luxe menswear. Having studied in Buenos Aires and Milan, this young designer de nes his aesthetic as follows: “The athleisure concept is revisited in my Latin Athletic Tailor collection. It blends Latin elements with sportswear and Italian sartorial features, resulting in a mix of classic tailored pieces crafted from technical and sporty fabrics, and sportswear designed with sartorial textiles.” After launching his label at the 2015 FashionClash show in the Netherlands, where he won the Vogue Talents Award, he went on to develop his brand in Europe and Asia before moving back to Buenos Aires and opening his rst store, which he sees as a crossroads for fashion, music and the arts. For his SS 2018, he started from the ceremonial body art of the Selk’nam – an extinct indigenous people from the Patagonian region of Tierra del Fuego – and included the stripes they used as part of his sporty tailored garments. “My inspiration feeds on a blend of Latin American culture with the concept of urban tribes and the metropolis, embracing street scenarios and their social aspects.” His plans for 2018 include working on a womenswear line. •
