Jah Stranjah revisits Teardrops

“I am a very spiritual, eccentric, bold yet humble person. I believe I have a purpose on this Earth and it has to do with me impacting lives and creating meaningful interactio­ns with people. I want to achieve that through music,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

Runaway is a co-production between herself, Kalex and Tara Johnson of Harry J Records. It was released on the Tri-factor label.

“The song was inspired by the whole lockdown situation and all that’s been happening globally. The frequent incidents of police brutality, black suppressio­n, and life. You just want to run away from it all,” Zhayna explained.

Zhayna is one of the background vocalists for reggae artiste Koffee. She has also done backing vocals of Daniel Cesar and Chronixx among others.

US-BASED Jah Stranjah is currently putting some promotiona­l muscle behind a four-year-old single titled Teardrops, which features American hip hop artiste Lady Cee.

“My mission is to carry on the legacy of our great reggae music. My music is a part of a spiritual movement. Entertainm­ent is important but spirituali­ty comes before everything,” he told Jamaica Observer.

Produced by Jah Stranjah, Teardrops was released by VPAL and CD RUN.

“The inspiratio­n for Teardrops is really about reflecting on one’s past mistakes, the distressed it may have caused, and knowing that you won’t make them again,” said Jah Stranjah.
