Two Brains of Beauty

- By Miss Rose

One day, in a heavily crowded place, a young boy began shouting, “People, looked at me. I have the most beautiful brain in the world “.

Many people looked at him and were stunned to see his beautiful brain in perfect and lovely shape. It looked quite amazing; most of the people who saw his brain were fascinated by the beauty of his brain. However, there came an old lady who challenged the young boy.

She walked over to him, clutching her walking stick with her back slightly bent. “No my son, I have got the most beautiful brain in the world!” said the old lady.

“No you don’t. If you have the most beautiful brain, then show me your brain”, the young boy replied. The old lady showed her brain to him. Her brain was shriveled like a raisin and wrinkled, showing signs of age.

The young boy said, “oh your brain is rough, not even pink in colour and it has lots of veins all over it.” The young boy started laughing and then said “my dear old lady, your brain can’t be bigger or more beautiful than mine because i am younger than you and my brain is smarter.”

The old lady stood still and didn’t speak a word. Tears rolled down from her eyes; she felt ashamed. Everyone was waiting to her what she would say.

Finally, she said, “do not worry your brain my son. I will give my brain to one of my family members someday. They will use all my years of knowledge to help them in life.”

“Just remember my dear boy, many brains give importance and respect to physical beauty. However, real beauty is not physical my young boy. Real beauty comes from within your heart and your mind,” said the old lady.

When she walked away, the people started to clap. The young boy felt bad and went to her and asked her to teach him how to have real beauty.

“Dear Mam, I am sorry if I was mean to you. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. I thought I had the most beautiful brain but it seems I need to have beauty inside my heart,” he said. He hugged her and gave her a big smile.

The old lady smiled with him and said, “you have learnt a lot today young man. Now you have started to be beautiful within”. The young boy and the old lady walked down the road and she taught him all about the true meaning of beauty.
