NIS, PATH issues solved by Claudienne

-

Dear Claudienne,

I am writing to request your assistance in receiving my NIS pension payments.

The only payment I received so far was for CAD$ 407.77 in September 2018.

Since then, I have written to the Ministry of Labour in October 2019 requesting outstanding payments but have not received any response.

Please see copies of the correspondence I have received from the NIS.

EHF

Dear EHF,

The NIS office has informed

that you were paid a grant of $40,000 in August 2018.

According to the NIS, “a grant is a one-time payment and is awarded when the contribution conditions for a pension are not satisfied”.

The NIS paid you a grant of $40,000 because you did not make the number of contributions to the NIS fund that would have made you eligible for a pension.

To qualify for a full-age NIS pension between the ages of 60 and 65 you must have paid or been credited with more than 500 contributions.

We wish you all the best.

Tell Claudienne

Dear Claudienne,

I am 68 years old and I live in the Kingston 4 area. I have lived at this address for seven years. I have applied to PATH for assistance twice.

The last time I applied was a little after the [coronavirus] pandemic started in 2020.

My application was approved and I was told that someone would come to my house to assess me. At the time of writing to you (January 26, 2021) I am still waiting to be assessed.

I am asmathic and suffer from back pain. I have seen people who applied after me get help from PATH and, I don’t know if I have not got help because of the area where I live.

Could you please help me to get some financial help?

BG

Dear BG
