Brighter Days Ahead
As a Mother’s brand family, our future outlook is improving and we are heartened by the promise of clear skies on the horizon. Our growing optimism is appropriate, as the threat of the pandemic is receding and there is a wave of renewed business in all sectors. We believe the next few years will, indeed, be Mother’s best years; again etching our imprint on the Jamaican landscape.
Having acclimatized to the ‘new normal’ of our industry, our retail sales are rising, and we have gained more customers with our innovative products and offerings. Our school canteens are expanding throughout the island and Mother’s Bakery operations are showing signs of significant growth in new markets. Mother’s has also targeted new territory for the expansion of our core restaurant business in rural Jamaica and by the end of 2021, we will announce plans for additional locations outside of Kingston.
Despite the pandemic, we will forge ahead into 2022 with the goal of increasing our count of quick service restaurants by four by the year 2025. We will refocus our plans to refurbish six of our existing restaurants by 2025 as well. Much like our flagship Montego Bay restaurant launched in December 2019, all future restaurants will feature ultra-modern décor and world-class amenities. The opening of our Montego Bay location was a defining moment in Mother’s history, signalling the beginning of what is to come: the best decade of Mother’s yet.
We will continue, in the next four years, to retool our production facilities and bakeries for greater efficiency, while refocusing on software upgrading to reduce overall management costs. We shall embark on a major overhaul of our support centre facilities in 2025, in an effort to improve the accuracy and speed of our warehousing and distribution.
Responsible stewardship of our resources will allow us to reward our loyal, dedicated employees, who have endured the last 18 months with courage and resilience. We will continue to reaffirm our commitment to this exemplary team, ensuring Mother’s remains an employer of choice through establishing newer facilities and internal policies to deliver better working conditions and remuneration. Already, we have renewed our commitment to the continued development of our staff by relaunching our internal scholarships and introducing the inaugural Adrian B. Foreman Tertiary Bursary for all Jamaican students, extending our reach nationwide.
What is abundantly clear is that a new day is dawning and Jamaica is, again, poised to grow into the future. As the ‘Great Jamaican Food Company’ we are, Mother’s is strategically expanding to meet the growth that is expected in the Jamaican economy, but more importantly, to satisfy the evolving needs of our Jamaican people.
Yours in service,
Richard Foreman General Manger Mother’s Enterprises Ltd
