DR. ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL ICAJ 2020 DISTINGUISHED MEMBER AWARDEE
In October 2020, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) announced well-known Chartered Accountant and Chairman of Jamaica Money Market Brokers Group Ltd. (JMMB) Dr. Archibald Campbell, as the 2020 Distinguished Member Awardee. The prestigious award is presented annually and seeks to recognise a member of the Institute for their outstanding contribution to ICAJ and the Accountancy profession in Jamaica.
A member of the ICAJ since 1984, Dr. Campbell has had an exemplary career as a Chartered Accountant, contributing at multiple levels to the growth and development of the profession in the Caribbean and beyond. A Council member from 2002 to 2013 and President of ICAJ from 2009 to 2011, Dr. Campbell has made consistent and meaningful contributions to the Institute, its members and accounting students, through various Committees including Accounting Standards, Continuing Professional Development, Current Affairs, Finance, Public Sector, Taxation and the Building Committee.
His professional career spans auditing, banking, insurance and academia at the University of the West Indies (UWI) where he served in the capacity of lecturer in accounting as well as The University Bursar. He has served on several boards in Jamaica and overseas in the fields of banking, insurance, hotel management, philanthropy and the public sector. Dr. Campbell has designed and taught courses in accounting and banking at the UWI and has been a presenter at local and international conferences in accounting and corporate governance. He has written and published on matters related to accounting, banking, finance and ethics in business.
He continues to impact the ICAJ by mentoring and supporting future chartered accountants to achieve their lifelong goals. Dr. Campbell was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander, for his exemplary contribution to the accounting and finance professions.
