PIZZA PARTY

- Written by: Kesi Asher-dawkins Drawing by Kelile Asher (6 years old)

A little boy name Stewart Johnson loved pizza. He wanted to eat pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but his father said no. “You cannot eat pizza all the time. Pizza is for a Saturday night dinner sometimes, a birthday and any day that Mommy is too tired to cook,” said Daddy. Stewart’s father liked to buy pizza over other fastfood meals because they delivered the pizza to the house. Stewart agreed, but he dreamed of eating pizza all the time. His favourite topping was chicken; he loved the cheese and the nice warm pizza. Stewart’s father had three slices because he loved pizza too and he ate more than everyone else. Stewart thought that’s why his belly was bigger than everyone’s. Stewart had two slices, his sister had two slices and Mommy had one slice. Mommy said she didn’t want to gain too much weight. Finally! Saturday night came and it was time for pizza! Daddy ordered the pizza. “Hello, this is Mr. Johnson, I would like to order a large pizza, chicken toppings, grape juice, same address,” said Daddy. He liked to order a large pizza because he got a free grape juice with it; he ordered many times so they knew where he lived. The pizza was delicious, everyone ate their slices and licked their fingers when they finished. Their stomachs were so full that they didn’t need anything more to eat for the rest of the night, especially Stewart’s father. “Daddy, can we have a pizza party one day?” asked Stewart. “A pizza party? How would that work?” asked Daddy “It’s just a day when my friends come to my house, we eat pizza, and have fun playing with our toys,” said Stewart. “Hmmmmmmm…… a pizza party, sounds expensive and sounds like lots of cleaning up for Mommy and me,” said Daddy. “We will be clean and only play outside, I promise,” begged Stewart. It was November and the Stewart’s end of year tests were coming up at school, so Daddy had an idea. “Okay Stewart, this is what we will do. We will only have the pizza party if you get an A in all your tests and if you let your sister and her friends have the pizza party with you” said Daddy. “My sister? Okay Daddy, I will and I will get an A in every test. Plus I will save some of my lunch money to pay for the pizza too, okay Daddy,” said Stewart. The day for the pizza party finally came and Daddy had Stewart’s report card in his hand. Stewart was a little worried about his grades. He knew he studied and felt like he did well in his tests but he really wanted the pizza party so he was anxious. “Well Stewart….. your grades……hmm……. they LOOK……. GREAT! An A for every subject, well done Stewart!” Daddy said smiling. “Do you know what time it is?” asked Daddy. “Aaaammmm……. it’s 11:00am,” answered Stewart. “No Stewart…. it’s time for the PIZZA PARTY! Get your sister and let’s PARTY!” said Daddy. He had already seen Stewart’s report and knew that Stewart got an A for every subject, so he already invited all his friends and his sister’s friends. He ordered eight large pizzas, that’s sixty-four slices! Stewart was so happy he hugged his parents and told them, thank you. He took some money from his pocket and gave it to his father to help him pay for the pizza. “That’s okay Stewart, I’m glad you learnt how to save, put the money in your saving pan and buy something nice for yourself at Christmas. Now there is a pizza party in the backyard, LET’S GO PARTY!” said Daddy Stewart, his sister and their friends had so much fun at the pizza party. There was music, there was a backyard children’s blow-up pool, and there were ice cream and balloons. Daddy and Mommy even came out and danced to the music. It was a fun pizza party for all.
