GOING above and beyond is no strange path for Fedora Bailey, Direct Sales Manager at
Digicel Jamaica. A maven at what she does professionally, Bailey is responsible for meeting aggressive sales and revenue targets, while leading a high-performance team of direct sales agents. Her main target is striking the delicate balance of being a mother, corporate professional and socialite.
“My children will always be a priority; however, in failing forward and learning from my missteps, I now know that I cannot pour from an empty cup,” said Bailey. “Parenting in itself is a full-time and lifelong responsibility, but so is personal development, growth, and the desire to make a positive impact with each step of my evolution.”
Bailey believes in the holistic woman and this is reflected in her desire to prioritise self-care, and making time to enjoy life.
“A mother has needs, desires, dreams and requires rest, renewal and time to simply live. I intentionally make time for activities that are in alignment with my values and purpose that bring about peace, joy and fulfilment.”
Bailey stands out in her approach to motherhood which extends beyond her immediate biological family. She gushes about her blended family dynamic and how it has been a blessing to spread her love to an adorable teen she describes as her bonus daughter.
“I have two biological children, R’vña & Amauri, however, I’ve also been blessed to have played a significant role in the development, care and nurturing of my stepdaughter Britney, who is not just my bonus daughter but my blessing. To holistically love, care for, guide, honour and support a child going 14+ years even after separation goes against societal norms, and I never envisioned that this would have been my reality,” said Bailey.
“People are always in awe whenever they learn that Britney is not my biological child as all three children are treated equally. Decisions, discipline, respect, plans, you name it — they all get the same treatment.”
For Bailey, motherhood has been a catalyst for furthering her dreams and aspirations, and has launched a new side to her evolution as a woman of God. As such, she’s now able to add value through mentoring and coaching others. Recently, she extended her nurturing spirit toward caring for her grand-nephew, Jamar — an experience which has also helped her to find a greater sense of balance and appreciation in her busy life. When asked how she does it all, Bailey responded, “God! I am today, because He is.”
