Meadforest back on top in JFF Tier II competitio­n

MEADFOREST FC reclaimed the lead in the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II competitio­n after coming from a goal down to beat Reno FC 2-1 at Constant Spring on Wednesday.

Five points separate the top seven teams in the points table which is led by Meadforest FC on 15 points, followed by Racing United-14, Treasure Beach-13, Albion Mountain-12, Tru-juice and Lime Hall Academy-11 each, and Falmouth United-10 points.

Meadforest FC jumped over Racing United after they rebounded from their surprise loss to Trujuice FC in the previous round of games to beat Reno FC who slumped to a third-straight loss.

Jashane Foster gave Reno FC the lead in the 22nd minute when he converted from the penalty spot, but Owen Gillare levelled the scores in the 45th minute as they went into the half-time break at 1-1.

Chevaun Warren scored the winner for Meadforest FC in the 51st minute as the Kingston based club won their fifth game of the season.

Racing United, who had scored 33 goals in their previous three games, could only produce one at home at the St Catherine Prison Oval and were held by Brown’s Town.

Ronald Noble gave Racing United the lead in the 79th minute but Dahmani Miller scored deep into time added to give the St Ann-based club a share of the points in the replay of the Tier II qualifying final.

Treasure Beach are in third place after dominating Wadada United FC 3-1 at Irwin High in St James. Shanoy Smith gave them the lead in the 20th minute and an own goal in the 39th minute saw them up 2-0 at half-time.

Ferron Messam made it 3-0 in the 59th minute before Kemarley Sterling scored his second of the season, in the 79th minute to pull a goal back for Wadada United.

Albion Mountain are in the top four for the first time after back-to-back wins and clipping the wings of the high-flying Trujuice FC 2-1 at St Mary Sports Complex and leapfroggi­ng them.

Tru-juice would have gone into the game full of confidence after beating Meadforest FC and took the lead in the 22nd minute through an own goal.

Russian Harding pulled Albion Mountain level in the 34th minute before Jahvalio Mcdonald scored the winner in time added at the end of the first half.

Cardiff Mckenzie scored a double for Portlander­s FC in their 4-1 win over Downs FC, scoring in the 33rd and 36th minutes, Shevon Bailey made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute and Najieb Tomlinson got the fourth in 81st minute.

Hopewell United scored their first win of the season, edging winless Baptist Alliance 1-0 at Orchard Sports Complex with Earl Scott scoring the winner in the eighth minute.

At the Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth, the home team had to come from behind to earn a point; Jaheen Hanson capitalise­d on a mix-up in the Falmouth United defence to score the opening goal in the 70th minute but Hannif Hosang scored from the penalty spot in the 80th minute to grab a point.
