AUTHOR Beverley Gordon is still on a high after the success of her book launch for My Story.

The event took place on February 10 at Ocho Rios Baptist Church in St Ann.

“For me, the support at the launch was very good. Considering how busy people are these days, for a 4:00 pm event, the attendance was really overwhelming… The energy was high; the atmosphere was charged with exuberance. Persons were excited for me writing my first book, and I was really just overwhelmed with excitement. I sold 38 copies including hardcover books onsite that evening. So I am very grateful,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

Gordon, who is originally from Kingston, later moved to Runaway Bay, St Ann.

She completed My Story in just two months after experiencing many challenges that she had ultimately overcome.

“After migrating to St Ann at age 23 years, my life’s journey took me down paths I never anticipated to go on. I navigated through a failed marriage, heartbreak, doubts, disappointments, dissolutions, and grave illnesses,” she said.

“For many years, I’ve felt that I needed to chronicle my experiences. However, I sensed in my heart that I needed to wait for a final chapter to close. That happened to be my divorce from a marriage that lasted only six weeks. As a Christian I trusted God’s timing. After the divorce, the Holy Spirit prompted me to start writing my story. Here I am with the finished work.”

Gordon has been met with scores of positive reviews from readers since the publication of the book. The author hopes that her story will continue to touch lives.

“My ultimate hopes are that this project will reach people around the world, not just for the sake of being a best-seller, but to be a life-changer and a heart-adjuster that readers will experience the power of transformative faith in their own lives as I’ve experienced in mine. I hope that this book will inspire others to aspire to greatness. It doesn’t matter how dismal your now appears to be; the best is yet to come,” she said.
