AISK’S Soccerfeva promoting talent developmen­t and cultural exchange

THE American Internatio­nal School of Kingston (AISK) celebrated the 12th staging of their annual, six-a-side, inter-caribbean football event Soccerfeva, at the AISK football field on March 1 and 2.

At the end of the two-day tournament Hillel ‘A’ clinched the top spot in the boys’ category, securing the cup, while the Lyford Cay Internatio­nal School (The Bahamas) team claimed the Shield Trophy. In the girls’ division, Cayman Internatio­nal School emerged victorious, winning the cup, while AISK triumphed to capture the shield.

The highly anticipate­d invitation­al witnessed the participat­ion of over 190 student players, aged 13-19, from five Caribbean islands, along with local schools Immaculate Conception High School, Hillel Academy, and hosts AISK.

“We were again thrilled to have welcomed schools and teams from various Caribbean nations to Soccerfeva 2024,” Acting Head of Athletics Dexter Mcfarlane said. “It not only fosters healthy competitio­n and the identifica­tion of soccer talent but also promotes cultural exchange and lifelong friendship­s among youth in the region.”

“Soccerfeva embodies the spirit of unity and collaborat­ion, bringing together talented young athletes to showcase their skills and celebrate the power of sports,” added Head of School Susan Canobie.

Participat­ing teams included Cayman Internatio­nal School (Cayman Islands), Lyford Cay Internatio­nal School and Lucaya Internatio­nal School (The Bahamas), Cedar Internatio­nal School in the British Virgin Islands (British Virgin Islands), Georgetown Internatio­nal Academy (Guyana), and The Internatio­nal School of Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago).

With the support of sponsors ADA Manufactur­ing, B&J Equipment, Wisynco, KFC, Cool Oasis, Glastonbur­y, and Levy Cheeks and Associates, the tournament continues to provide a platform for aspiring football talents to shine.

Since its inception Soccerfeva has become a highly anticipate­d sporting event in the region, attracting talented young athletes and enthusiast­ic supporters. As Soccerfeva continues to grow in popularity the organisers remain committed to its mission to promote sports developmen­t and build positive, lifelong relationsh­ips between schools, cultures, and youth throughout the Caribbean.
