BATV inks deal with National Bakery
JAMAICA’S FIRST business cable channel, Business Access Television (BATV), has been making significant strides since its launch in 2015.
To add to its list of recent partnerships, BATV has signed a deal with National Baking Company to bring to life the company’s Bold Ones of Manufacturing initiative.
The partnership serves to educate the TV land about small, new manufacturing companies with a vision of opening new opportunities and encouraging others into manufacturing in order to stimulate economic growth and its corresponding benefits to the country.
Garth Walker, managing director, BATV, said the idea is to convert the Bold Ones 2016 from a print concept into a tele- vised series to be produced by BATV.
TELEVISION SERIES
“The marketing of the Bold Ones was done in print, so we’re actually converting it into a television series. Prior to launching BATV, I approached Mr Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson with the idea of televising the Bold Ones campaign, but we (BATV) didn’t have the platform needed. After launching the channel, a meeting was rescheduled with Mr Hendrickson, and the rest is history,” said Walker.
The Bold Ones campaign is a project of National’s chairman, Butch Hendrickson, and was first implemented in 2010. The campaign seeks to continue to find individuals who are bold enough to enter the manu- facturing industry in an effort to revitalise the sector. The last instalment of the campaign saw eight companies emerging from the programme equipped with knowledge in brand awareness, local and international contracts, and an increase in market penetration.
“Thus far, the partnership with Business Access is fantastic. This new format that we’ve doctored, to televise the campaign for this year, will definitely be a keeper, and I can’t see any reason why this wouldn’t be a game-changer for the programme. It’s not for us, the bakery, but for the bold ones – whoever may be selected – and who will certainly benefit from this partnership,” Hendrickson said.
