High spirits at Sagicor’s Inspire project cocktail launch

- Kimberly Goodall Gleaner Writer

Sagicor’s manager for special projects and promotions, Alysia White, flashed her pearly whites our way next to Inspire candidate Leon Malcolm. Derrick Saddler is obviously happy to be chosen by the Sagicor team to be a part of the Inspire Weekend to take place later this month. STEPPING INTO the Toyota Showroom on Old Hope Road last Friday, you could feel the excitement as over 100 specially selected students from colleges and universities across the island, gathered in anticipation for the launch of Sagicor’s Inspire Project.

The music was pumping and the students were in just the right mood as they indulged in hors d’oeuvres and mingled with fellow attendees that have been chosen for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Inspire Project will see Sagicor Group Jamaica host 120 students on a weekend motivational retreat at the company’s Hilton Resort and Spa from October 21 to 23. The retreat aims to strengthening the students’ leadership and life skills and serves to empower them by complementing their educational experience with discussions, motivational talks and other activities.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

“These amazing young people were selected because they have set themselves apart on their respective campuses through their exemplary leadership or through their academic achievement. They have all worked very hard,” noted Ingrid Card, Sagicor’s vice-president of group marketing.

The project will use President and CEO Richard Byles along with Sagicor board members and the executive leadership team to engender a culture of excellence in the participants and further inspire them towards excellence.

According to Byles, “The Sagicor Group will continue to present initiatives such as this to deliver positive messages into the lives of the next generation.”

With so much exciting activities ahead of them, the attendees were already building relationships and sharing their excitement among themselves. The evening continued with an entertaining number from Beam Dance Group. Twins, Chantal (left) and Chanelle Pearson came out in matching smiles and style as they represented the University of Technology as exceptional achievers. Raechell-Ann Barras of the University of the West Indies represents her school beautifully at Sagicor’s Inspire Project launch.
