Burger King Su­per­day 38 launched

ALARGE field is ex­pected to con­test the 38th run­ning of the 2016 Su­per­stakes to be spon­sored by Burger King for the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive year on Satur­day, Novem­ber 12, at Cay­manas Park.

De­tails for Burger Su­per­day 38, dubbed ‘A Day with the King and his Horses’ were out­lined by rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the fast food fran­chise at Cay­manas Park yes­ter­day.

Burger King has do­nated $2.2 mil­lion to purses, in­clud­ing $1 mil­lion to the Su­per­stakes, and $4.4 mil­lion over­all.

Den­zil Miller Jr, Cay­manas Track Lim­ited’s rac­ing sec­re­tary, said the pres­ti­gious in­vi­ta­tional race should see at least 14 horses fac­ing the starter for the lion’s share of the $4.5 mil­lion purse. They in­clude last year’s win­ner FRANFIELD from the sta­bles of eight-time Su­per­stakes win­ning trainer Richard Azan, and reign­ing Horse of the Year SEEK­ING MY DREAM, who is trained by Wayne DaCosta, sta­ble-com­pan­ion PER­FECT NEIGH­BOUR, SUPERLUMINAL, PHINEAS, HOUDINI’S MAGIC, Oaks win­ner A THOU­SAND STARS, PINELOPE, hat-trick seeker JA­MAI RAJA, and WILL IN CHARGE. SEEK­ING MY DREAM

Ac­cord­ing to Miller, the other spon­sored races on the pro­gramme are the 29th run­ning of the $1.75 mil­lion Glen Mills Caribbean Sprint Cham­pi­onship over 1200 me­tres fea­tur­ing new sprint sen­sa­tion BUZZ NIGHT­MARE, the third run­ning of the Coco-Cola In­vi­ta­tional Mile with a purse of $1.25 mil­lion and the 10th run­ning of the Ju­nior whop­per Ju­ve­nile Sprint over 1300 me­tres for a purse of $1 mil­lion.

In ad­di­tion, spe­cial awards of $50,000 will be pre­sented to the top trainer, top jockey and top groom on the day. Also speak­ing were CTL’s man­ag­ing direc­tor Shane Dalling and Richard Lake, chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Burger King.
