A full-dress debate

the administra­tion of justice in Jamaica is held in the House of Representa­tives on a bill amending the Supreme Court Law to permit the appointmen­t of a 10th puisne judge. Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Victor Grant, at the end of the debate, says the administra­tion of justice in Jamaica is of a high calibre in so far as the integrity and capability of the judges themselves are concerned, and that such hold-ups and deficienci­es that might exist in the “If yuh did cut mi skin, an’ draw blood Mi woulda forgive yuh. If yuh did black up me yeye ... lick out me teet’ ... Mi t’ink mi coulda still forgive; but yuh cut me SOUL, an’ mi caan forgive. NO! Mi coulda nevah forgive dat.”
