In­te­grat­ing our busi­ness pro­cesses for greater ef­fi­ciency


THE JA­MAICA Cus­toms Agency (JCA) con­grat­u­lates the Sta­tis­ti­cal In­sti­tute of Ja­maica (STATIN) for pro­vid­ing 70 years of ex­cel­lent ser­vice to the Gov­ern­ment of Ja­maica, the pub­lic and pri­vate sec­tor, and the coun­try as whole, pri­mar­ily in the area of re­search and sta­tis­tics.

Ja­maica op­er­ates in a glob­alised en­vi­ron­ment, which dic­tates that we re­main highly com­pet­i­tive in the area of tran­ship­ment and trade, along with other key in­di­ca­tors rel­e­vant to our na­tional growth and de­vel­op­ment and sup­ported by the use of credible sta­tis­ti­cal data and in­for­ma­tion.

The JCA shares a long and rich re­la­tion­ship with STATIN and the full im­ple­men­ta­tion of the Au­to­mated Sys­tem for Cus­toms Data (ASYCUDA) dur­ing this fis­cal year (2016/17) has been ben­e­fi­cial to both en­ti­ties, par­tic­u­larly as it re­lates to the in­te­gra­tion of our busi­ness pro­cesses, which has pos­i­tively im­pacted our re­spec­tive op­er­a­tions.

This sys­tem pro­vides the STATIN with di­rect and real-time elec­tronic ac­cess to data on im­ports and ex­ports, tran­ship­ment and other ar­eas, sig­nif­i­cantly re­duc­ing or al­to­gether elim­i­nat­ing the need for the en­tity to man­u­ally peruse doc­u­ments cov­er­ing these ar­eas.

ASYCUDA World has had pos­i­tive re­sults in a num­ber of ar­eas, in­clud­ing im­prov­ing the JCA’s rev­enue per­for­mance, our busi­ness pro­cesses, cus­tomer-ser­vice de­liv­ery, bor­der-pro­tec­tion ca­pa­bil­i­ties, and pro­vid­ing ac­cu­rate and con­sis­tent tax cal­cu­la­tions and greater ac­count­abil­ity.
