Integrating our business processes for greater efficiency

-

THE JAMAICA Customs Agency (JCA) congratulates the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) for providing 70 years of excellent service to the Government of Jamaica, the public and private sector, and the country as whole, primarily in the area of research and statistics.

Jamaica operates in a globalised environment, which dictates that we remain highly competitive in the area of transhipment and trade, along with other key indicators relevant to our national growth and development and supported by the use of credible statistical data and information.

The JCA shares a long and rich relationship with STATIN and the full implementation of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) during this fiscal year (2016/17) has been beneficial to both entities, particularly as it relates to the integration of our business processes, which has positively impacted our respective operations.

This system provides the STATIN with direct and real-time electronic access to data on imports and exports, transhipment and other areas, significantly reducing or altogether eliminating the need for the entity to manually peruse documents covering these areas.

ASYCUDA World has had positive results in a number of areas, including improving the JCA’s revenue performance, our business processes, customer-service delivery, border-protection capabilities, and providing accurate and consistent tax calculations and greater accountability.

Jamaica Customs celebrates this milestone with STATIN and is committed to strengthening our partnership, as together, we continue to impact Jamaica’s growth and national development. MAJOR RICHARD REESE (RET’D) CEO/Commissioner Jamaica Customs Agency
