Lottery Ticket has the Cure
THE INAUGURAL running of the Miracle Cure Sprint over 1100 metres and the annual renewal of the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup for maiden two-year-olds over 1400 metres are the co-features at Caymanas Park today.
Eight will face the starter in the Abbie Grannum Memorial and indications are that HENRY THE SECOND, who made a promising debut over the distance behind FEARLESS SAMURAI on October 17, will go one better with Robert Halledeen aboard.
HENRY THE SECOND ran a bit green on his debut, yet stayed on well for second after being slowly into stride. However, the son of Miracle Man has been taken to task at exercise since, galloping 1100 metres in a brisk 1:07.1 last Sunday morning.
Trainer Ian Parsard says he has high hopes for HENRY THE SECOND in the remaining two-year-old races and now fitted with the visor (blinkers off), should use this race as a stepping stone to bigger things. SOTOMAYOR looks his principal danger.
THe first running of the Miracle Cure Sprint in honour of the 1998 Caribbean Sprint champion who was owned by Dr. Paul Wright and trained by Philip Feanny, has attracted 14 three-year-olds (non winners of two), including three from the stables of 15-time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta.
They are LOTTERY TICKET, the mount of stable jockey Omar Walker, BLUE MOON and recent winner RUNAWAY GAL, who looks the least likely to win in present company.
LOTTERY TICKET, a lightly raced filly by Seeking The Glory out of Just A Flutter, has moved impressively at exercise in preparation for this trophy, galloping 1000 metres in 1:00.4 last Saturday morning. Following her good fourth to stable-companion GOLD MINER over 1000 metres some weeks ago, she is tipped to take home this trophy from the handy mark of 52.5kg. OCEAN SEEKER and LIKE A LADY are twin dangers, both having run well for second recently.
Other firm fancies on the card are
TITANIC to rebound in the first race, PHOTOGENIC in the fourth, ETERNAL JOY in the sixth and CHOO CHOO BLUE in the 10th.
