Sylvain Fabi: Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica
“I will go back to Jamaica’s election and how it was conducted, which, from the point of view of all Jamaican and foreign observers, was conducted very well.
“Does Jamaica have any lessons to receive from an election held in the US or in Canada? I’m not sure, I would be hard-pressed to say.
“The US elections are like the Jamaican elections. People are free to vote and people are going to cast their votes, and the election is going to be the result of what people voted.
“I think that with a Clinton presidency, the relationship with Jamaica would be similar to what it is under the current Barack Obama administration.
“Under the Democrats, I think historically the US relationship with Jamaica has been interesting.
“Under Mr Trump, there is a lot of concern about his foreign policy so it’s harder to tell.”
