KC ad­vance to Man­ning Cup semis

KINGSTON COL­LEGE (KC) ad­vance to the ISSA-FLOW Man­ning Cup semi­fi­nals for the first time in many years when they de­feated Bridge­port High 3-0 at the Prison Oval Com­plex in Span­ish Town yes­ter­day.

The famed Pur­ples from North Street hit three first half goals cour­tesy of Re­nato Camp­bell in the 17th minute, Rashawn Mack­i­son (20th) and Fabian Grant (33rd) for a well-de­served vic­tory.

KC fin­ished Group K on five points, the same as Char­lie Smith, who edged St

An­drew Tech­ni­cal High School (STATHS) 1-0 in an­other game at Con­stant Spring.

KC scored five goals and con­ceded two times in their three sec­ond round games, while Char­lie Smith net­ted three goals with two against.

Bridge­port suf­fered a late blow when sub­sti­tute Shan­non El­lis­ton was ejected af­ter a sec­ond yel­low card in the 88th minute

KC started the game with more pur­pose and set­tled early. They went ahead and dou­bled the score­line in­side three minute.

In the sec­ond half, KC was pushed back by Bridge­port who came into their own. The Bridge­port team was de­nied by missed chances from faulty shoot­ing.

KC’s back-line mar­shalled by their out­stand­ing cap­tain and cen­tral de­fender Javain Brown stood firm.
