Much needed de-bushing
THE EDITOR, Sir: THERE HAS been much talk about the present de-bushing exercise. Whatever the objective, I am sorry but, personally, it has come at a much-needed time.
Over the years, I have had to bush surrounding areas, without help from the local authorities. Members of my family, neighbours and friends were all victimized by Chik-V and I also contracted the Zika virus. The result is a seriously compromised immune system with lingering pain.
Since this exercise, it has improved the vector management as the mosquito population has decreased in my neck of the woods. I cannot understand the chatter. Is it that Jamaicans must not enjoy a level of comfort and a healthy environment?
Well, in all my years, this is the best de-bushing exercise, as the debris and litter were all removed. It has also enhanced the aesthetics of the community.
Sort out the quarrel, but do not stop the maintenance of the verges and edges. ANDREA DUNK andrea.d7774@gmail.com
