APARTNERSHIP between Sandals Resorts International (SRI), ATL Autobahn and Marriott International Inc will see a lucrative investment of US$50 million earmarked to construct a new AC Hotel and the BMW and MINI showrooms in Kingston.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for Jamaica’s first “business-lifestyle” hotel and SRI’s eleventh, took place yesterday at 38-42 Lady Musgrave Road, St Andrew.

The AC Hotel by Marriott will be the first nonSandals and Beeches-branded hotel to be managed by SRI.

AC Kingston, slated for opening in Winter 2019, will boast 220 rooms, a 10,000-square-foot conference centre and a full-service restaurant.

It will also consist of a beauty and wellness salon, car rental facility, dining outlets, including a sushi and seafood restaurant, a well-known coffee franchise and a bar centrepiece.

Valet and self-serve parking options will also be available.

The state-of-the-art showrooms for renowned world luxury brands BMW and MINI will be designed in accordance with the BMW Group’s international brand standards.

Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairman of the ATL Automotive Group and SRI Adam Stewart described the initiative as “transformational”.

Stewart said: “This hotel will be EP (European Plan). This is our first time entering the non-allinclusive market in the hospitality sector. Last year, our group contributed US$50 million to the Jamaican economy in developments throughout our chain. We are achieving average daily rates ten times that of the all-inclusive international marketplace.”

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, in his keynote address, stated: “We want businesses to invest, to be profitable and pay their staff well. The role of government is to provide that platform where business and the citizens can all succeed.”
