Fisher stars at G.C. Foster meet
ANDREW FISHER of Elite Performance Track Club was the top performer at yesterday’s Central and Hurdles track meet at the G.C. Foster College with an impressive recordequalling run of 6.53 seconds to capture the men’s 60 metres open. Fisher who now represents Bahrain, but still works out in Jamaica, tied the mark set one year ago by Kim Collins of St Kitts. Finishing second was Everton Clarke of G.C. Foster College in 6.60, with his teammate, Sheldon Mitchell, taking third in 6.76. G.C. Foster’s Jura Levy also had a good win in the women’s 60 metres event after clocking 7.25, just edging Sprintec’s Gayon Evans, who was second in 7.32. St Jago High had a clean sweep of the top-three spots in the Girls’ 70m hurdles, with Danae Nembhard leading the way. She clocked 10.86 seconds to break the old record of 11.00 set by Hydel’s Osheca Barnes in 2012. Teammates, Kaylagay Clarke 11.25 and Aaliyah Blair 11.26 finished second and third, respectively.
BEST FEMALE PERFORMER
Alysha Kelly of St Jago was the best among females in the Class One 400 metres. The former Guys’ Hill and Hydel High standout clocked 55.21 seconds, as Edwin Allen High’s Kimona Muschette was second in 55.83 and Holmwood Technical’s Osheca Lee taking third in 56.07.
Gabrielle McDonald of Edwin Allen topped the field in the girls’ Class One 100 metres hurdles in 14.11 seconds, as Holmwood Technical Nicolee Foster was second in 14.16 and St Jago High’s Anek Brissette taking third in 14.50.
St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) took the top-three places in the boys’ Class One 400m hurdles. Leandro Ledgister won in 54.20 seconds,
ahead of Jevauny James 54.55, with third going to Dashinelke Dyer in 55.54.
In Class Two 400m hurdles, it was a win for STETHS’ Jashaun Parkes in 57.59 ahead of Kimani Lindo of Wolmer’s Boys, 58.46, with third going to Warren Henlon of STETHS, 1:00.93.
Jamaica College ruled supreme in the sprint hurdles. Trezequet James
stopped the clock at 14.31 seconds to win the Class Two 110m, ahead of teammate Tajamir Miller (14.16) with third going to Jeremy Farr of Wolmer’s, 14.43.
It was also one-two for Jamaica College in Class One 110m hurdles. Phillip Lemonious won in 14.20, defeating Oquendo Bernard, 14.31. Third went to Lloyd Facey of Mona in 14.72.
