A ‘Couple’ of anniversaries
COUPLES SANS Souci celebrated its 11th anniversary playing ‘Dandy Shandy’ with the rain, while Couples Tower Isle was forced to move its 39th anniversary cocktail reception to its lobby as strong winds reigned supreme last weekend.
The two resorts actually brought warmth to an appreciably cool Ocho Rios last Friday and Saturday nights, as several repeat guests rubbed shoulders with local socialites, many of whom have become regulars at the calendar events.
The rains threatened to dampen the ‘Motown’ theme at Sans Souci’s Friday-night event, however, the dynamic trio, tagged ‘Silhouette’ would not allow it; while the repeat guests, boasting a 50 per cent ratio, were bent on enjoying every moment of the grand affair.
A Motown bar, bell-foot pants, and an artist’s rendition of high Afro mounted across the property, accompanied by Silhouette’s selection of hits by Diana Ross and The Supremes; Smokey Robinson and The Miracles; The Marvelettes; and The Temptations gave authenticity to the theme.
The group knew Motown was the sound that changed America, and on Friday night used it to bring heat to the wet lawns of the fabulous resort.
On Saturday night at Couples Tower Isle, it was all about the food, and regional executive chef Stefan Spath and his team outdid themselves with their underwater theme.
No one was expected to wear swimsuits, all they had to do was come dressed for an exotic and titillating experience, and the food and beverage team delivered.
The creatures of the sea took the spotlight, complemented by a mini Asian infusion station for those who wanted meat.
Again, Couples resorts proved that come ‘rain or shine’, nothing could spoil their ability to put on a great party.
