Busy Signal ‘Fresh From Yaad’ and 12th on iTunes
ON JANUARY 13, Busy Signal announced his return to the United States, a turnaround from being incarcerated there and then deported five years ago. The title of his new release, the eight-track Fresh From Yaad, reflects the development and the release date (January 24) shows some planning went into its timing.
It has paid off, as Fresh From Yaad is 12th on the iTunes listing of Top 100 Reggae Albums up to a few minutes past 11 p.m. on Thursday.
London McNamara’s 11track album A Dollar Short & a Minute Late is number one. It leads a Bob Marley pair which has been a fixture on the download listing, often one behind the other as they are this time around. Legend (Remastered) is second, while Legend (Deluxe Edition) is third.
There is another Bob Marley and the Wailers set in the top five, as Gold is behind the fourth-place Falling Into Place (Rebelution). Alkaline is the highest placed dancehall artiste, with his New Level Unlocked in the number 23 spot. Shaggy’s Hot Shot is 26th, just ahead of the Ultimate Collection: Jimmy Cliff. Chronixx’s Dread and Terrible is at number 32, Buju Banton’s Til Shiloh is 41st and The Real Sivva (Shawn Storm) at number 52. The Gaza has presence on the iTunes listing, as Kartel’s King of the Dancehall is in the 72nd spot.
