Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring fêtes centenarian

IVY ANDREWS, affectionately called Granny, turned 104 on December 5, 2016. Andrews, who resides on Manning’s Hill Road in the Constant Spring area, is a friend to many members of the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring.

To mark her continued life and good health, members of the club presented her with a gift basket donated by LASCO Distributors and a box of food items donated by Food For The Poor.

Seven members of the club were in attendance for the handover, including president Vanessa Nesbeth, distinguished presidents Pam Rodney-White, Debbie Manning, Trevor Richards; and Kiwanians Sandra McPherson and Primrose Granville.

“It was indeed a pleasure to celebrate a life well lived and spend some time with Granny who is so energetic and knowledgeable and gracious,” Nesbeth said.

The gathering spoke with Andrews and also shared in the prayers offered by Audrey Henry from the Constant Spring Church of God and Janine Remekie.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS

Andrews also received belated birthday greetings and well-wishes from the lieutenant governor of Division 23 East, Eileen HooperDonaldson, several members and past members of the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring.

She also received phone and video calls from family members and friends of members of the club. Greetings came from Chile, Florida, New York, Canada and the United Kingdom. Andrews even spoke with a fellow centenarian, 102-year-old Alice, an aunt of Richards.

“There are not enough words to express my gratitude, and my heart is filled with joy. While my birthday is usually well celebrated, I am not accustomed to receiving so much love, attention and well-wishes on an ordinary day,” Andrews said.
