Morgan’s ‘Transition’ plummets, top debut for Common Kings

- Entertainment@gleanerjm.com

JEMERE MORGAN’S Transition has fallen dramatically on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart for the week of February 25, 2017, losing five places in a week. Transition has plummeted from last week’s number four to ninth this week after peaking at number two in its five weeks on the listing.

This free-fall puts it a place above Stephen Marley’s Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life, which inched up a place from last week’s No. 11 to be 10th this week.

They are the only two living Jamaican lead vocalists with full-length projects on the current Billboard Reggae Chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers’ The Legend Live: Santa Barbara – County Bowl, November 25th, 1979, claiming the top ‘yard’ slot at number eight. The various artists set Soul Jazz Records Presents: Studio One Rocksteady, Volume 2, is at 13, moving up two places from last week.

TOP ALBUMS

Hidden in Paradise (Common Kings) has debuted at No. 1, while last week’s top album, A Dollar Short & a Minute Late (London McNamara), has fallen to fourth. This movement leaves last week’s second- and thirdplace albums, Falling Into Place (Rebelution) and Set in Stone (Stick Figure, 65 weeks on the chart), respectively, in place. The fifth-placed album, J Boog’s Wash House Ting, also holds firm from last week.

Moving up by a single place to be sixth is Live at Red Rocks (Rebelution), and Samu’s My Soul debuts at number seven.

After Revelation: Part II, Iration’s Hotting Up begins the chart’s lowest third. Impressively, it is in its 73rd week on the listing. Unplugged (UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey) has fallen from last week’s peak eight position to be 12th. Nothing More to Say (The Frightners) and Double Up (Iration) complete the listing at 14th and 15th, respectively.
