Holness Gov’t on right track

-

THE EDITOR, Sir: FEBRUARY 25, 2017 REPRESENTED the first anniversary of the Jamaica Labour Party in government. Many within various sectors of Jamaica have expressed confidence in the Government’s stewardship of the country, particularly the economy.

The economic fundamentals are heading in the right direction and business and consumer confidence is at an all-time high.

Many have been given a sense of hope. The JLP took the reins of power against the background of the party sharing a vision of prosperity of which everyone can be part. Some will espouse cynicism and doubt that such prosperity will not be attained, but they do so within the context of sheer political bias.

MANY HOPEFUL

Most Jamaicans, especially the youths, feel buoyant about the future under the leadership of the JLP Government.

However, crime and violence present a threat to the promised prosperity, and I acknowledge the efforts that the Government has made to curb this monster. What should follow is an appreciation on the part of the citizenry that any appreciable reduction in crime is going to be long term rather than short term.

By far, the Holness administration is performing acceptably and deserves support in the coming years. ALANZO JOHNSON Maggotty, St Elizabeth
